Don't care about the music, I get what I expect. Crowded camp site, expect it to be loud. If you expect otherwise, then you're fooling yourself (like those that buy a house next to an airport then complain about the planes.) If I'm going full bore isolationist, I expect it to be silent. I...
I put 315 70s on my stock Sport S rims. No spacer. 2.5" RC levelling kit. No issue. Full rack clears by about a half inch. So, you can easily throw on 33s without problems.
Oh goody, another deafening hour and a half of close ups of people shifting gears while driving/drifting through plot holes in a script you can easily squeeze those 40s on four inch spacers between. At least they aren't doing anything insultingly embarrassing like launching a rocket powered...
35s and a 2.5" levelling kit.
Had to throw the top on too, expecting rain. Actually like the top on it. At least I'm telling myself that because it was a pain in the ass and I don't want to take it off only to have to go through fishing straps between the windshield and roll bar and back...
Base model Sport comes with steel wheels.
There might be a weight consideration for mileage numbers, they tend to count every ounce when calculating.
I would have preferred steel too, but mainly for the abuse they can take. Not that aluminum is flimsy by any stretch, I just know if I doink a...
90 pound Catahoula that does a bit of hesitating up, not down. The tube doors help and I can easily unhook the strap to have it swing out further although her fat ass hasn't hit it yet. Not sure if the regular doors would pull the harness if you have it but the strap and rod can be left...
Ah, the sweet smells of youth! Playing in the Shell oil fields with the piquant aftertaste of the diesel they spread everywhere to keep the dust down, the acrid tinge on the tip of your tongue of ozone as it filters through your nasal cavity from a Lincoln buzzbox spitting welding rod flux, and...
If you have to ask, you don't have to ask. That goes especially for those of us that are delightfully, easily distracted with a brazillion things on our plates already. Did I tighten that lug? NO! Go check it and take the torque wrench. Did I sign every spot in that refi doc? NO! Go...
$10,000 fine if you were a NASCAR crew chief.
Learned a hard lesson when I was 8. Did an oil change on a small Briggs and started it up. It immediately barfed out all the oil out the fill hole, mostly on me. Shut it down and saved the engine, but my dad walked over and said, "Don't...
Good way to chase away business. I could only warranty work on carbs for 30 days, but I would use it as an opportunity to teach the customer rather than gripe about a dollar amount. I could either explain and show what is happening or turn my back for a buck, I always chose to keep that...
That is solid advice. I've used Stabil for decades and have had very good results. I used some fuel that was two years old that was originally mixed with it and it smelled and worked fine. It was a very full gallon can sealed well so there was almost no air in it which definitely helped.
Carb prices are all over the place, Honda in particular travel the entire gamut. The little 1000 watt generator carb was around $150 a couple years back while their ubiquitous mower carb was only about $20. It's actually cheaper to switch out a carb instead of overhaul it in parts alone...
What can I say? I'm a LEGO fanatic that bought a truck that looks like I built it out of LEGO.
Don @pixeldecals did a great job, easy install, AND the wifey laughed. THAT'S how you win at life. ;)
One of the reasons I moved away from there. I worked down on 3rd St. next to the West Oakland BART station, saw cars get broken into all the time. They'd steal the batteries mostly, mark the car, then wait for it to show up the next day with a brand new battery.
But there is occasionally a...
Did a couple things and have more planned.
Bought some Rubi heavy duty rock sliders (more like pinch seam covers) take-offs, brand new, down in Phoenix for $35/pair yesterday and threw them on. Really the only bit of ugly about this truck are those damn pinch seams, fixed! Also got my hood...
God, those bring back great memories. The antiques were really all my dad and I had that we shared a love of. Kinda sounds depressing, but it wasn't any of the classic tropes of father/son angst. He had a small engine repair shop in Southern California where I grew up with more oil on me than...
GORGEOUS IRON!!!
Cute little Briggs, 5S? Loved the S curve fuel line on them. What's on that light plant? Looks like a Lauson from this side, maybe even a Kohler 91. I had a B&S generator that was water cooled! I think it was a WYJ, my memory is shot and my dad sold off all our iron. Rare...
