  1. Can you build a better Jeep and save money by starting with a Sport S?

I think this is an apt show of the general values. So you spent $10k on the upgrades but got $5k back. That said, if you but $10k into a sport, you probably won’t see much of that back in resale or trade. So if you keep your sport a sport and just drive it, yeah, likely you will have solid...
  2. Mounting GMRS antenna

Haven’t been out yet to test it unfortunately. Excited tho, as I also have the 6db antenna to try and my buds have also got into the game recently so will be able to see how reception is as soon as the snow melts off the trails here and they open back up. And yep, ran through a grommet under the...
  3. Mounting GMRS antenna

I got the 3db Midland Ghost antenna mounted to a cowl mount from CoolTech LLC
  4. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK]

Wired in a few more of the KC Cyclones. I was looking to add some functional light around the truck. I was gonna do white, but utility flood lights weren’t quite what I needed. Just something to leave on and cast a glow on things so not stumbling around in the dark. Red/amber aren’t as...
  5. Jeeps Parking Next To Jeeps

I’m glad that Pathfinder was scared off and replaced by that JKU when I got out the store.
  6. Can you build a better Jeep and save money by starting with a Sport S?

I was weighing this for a while going back and forth. But I think the “get the sport” and option out holds better for getting a Max Tow auto than a manual. As I wanted a manual first and foremost, the Max tow package isn’t available to get the wider axles and some 4:10’s to start out. That...
  7. Show Us Your Bumpers!

Running the Rugged Ridge Venator full length. Smittybilt XRC Gen 2 9500lb DV8 fairlead License plate mount Has KC Gravity Fogs (OEM Drop in) And KC SlimLite LEDs with the clear covers

Yep! Rugged Ridge Venator with the overrider bar. Not OP, but got the same one.
  9. Rubi Rhod - A 2020 Gladiator with flair for the overland-dramatic

I think its durable enough. It’s not “rock solid” like you might expect with an aftermarket bumper. It’s more like a fancy factory metal bumper. You can knock a garbage can or swing a gate open but its not a bruiser like most. It only weighs about 30lbs without the winch cradle and horns. Fit...
  10. Great Write-Up on Winch Recovery

This is a great article. Thanks for sharing. I just got into my winch after many years of reading on stuff exactly like this, and talking to folks, or reading posts like these. I went with a 9500lb winch, which just creeps that +25% safety margin itself. The 12k would have just about hit that...
  11. Rubi Rhod - A 2020 Gladiator with flair for the overland-dramatic

For off-road lights, selected the KC HiLites SlimLite LEDs They pack a whalloping 9000 lumens each, and have a sharp looking to them. Focus and light pattern is exceptional. I was a little leery of going with spots, even though thats much of what’s found in lights, but these do throw a good...
  12. Rubi Rhod - A 2020 Gladiator with flair for the overland-dramatic

Lighting and electrical stuff done as well Mounted a Trigger 4 Plus on a crude but stout fabb’d tray. The rugged ridge snorkel kit runs along inside the hood, and the Trigger mount goes right on the edge where the silicone boot is, so they are incompatible. But there’s plenty of space to play...
  13. Rubi Rhod - A 2020 Gladiator with flair for the overland-dramatic

Bumper and winch update! Went with the Rugged Ridge Venator full length. I’ll be keeping it to 35” tires, so the full width was appreciated. It hugs the body tightly and really sharpens it all up. For the winch, I just went with a basic Smittybilt Gen 2 9500lb. It’s my first real entry into...
  14. Rubi Rhod - A 2020 Gladiator with flair for the overland-dramatic

Coms Update! GMRS Radio Install. Midland MXT275 paired with their 3db gain ghost stealth antenna. Went with a stealthy install. Mounted the remote box to under the steering column, and attached to the power inverter thats in the Rubicon. Power is from the 12v inline socket tap. And the...

Got some lights in! A couple of KC Cyclones added underhood. And a pair of their Slimlite LEDs.
  16. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS, NO GUN TALK]

Got my Trigger Wireless switch installed along with Rugged Ridge Headlight guards, and some colorful shackles. While I got the switch in and wires ran, the lights still arent here, so gotta exercise this thing called “patience” or something.

Just the top plate. So the 6 top visible screws. It’s pretty quick. And it’s also needed to come off to take off the grill. The bumper by design really hugs the body, so that top plate interferes with popping the bottom clips off. All together I had more hassle getting the wires oriented neatly...

Winch arrived and got loaded in. Going Factor $9.99 for the closed loop style of winching. Not a knock on their stuff, but man, the flat hook alone cost more than all the winch accessories I got; snatch block, steel shackles, soft shackles, tree savers; and definitely was a smarter way to...

I'm totally appropriating here. Actually Hawaiian. But I do like the little buggers. They are quite the non-native, kind of like myself, especially out in the NW now. It was supposed to be "small" but my mom wanted to send some decals, and uh... It was quite gargantuan, unlike the little frog. :)

Stripped off the RTT... And starting a RTT trailer. I want some performance back! And an enclosed cargo bed. And for some summer roadtrips that are planned, a lot more gear was gonna be needed, and a trailer was inevitable. This trailer will be built on the cheap. So far, including the...
