The answer is probably yes as it’s hard to say no to a V8, but with a minimum $10k entry, and pushing $20k, as I got a pretty base spec Rubi, I think tires, gears, clutch, lift and supercharger would all come in well under that premium. And I would get to keep rowing my own gears.
Went PRP custom for the front and rear.
Dog tested as well. Installed them a few months ago. Beat them up between mud, dog, snow and drive through ketchup packets.
All in all, they are fantastic and pretty dang easy to live with. I just use my Griots Interior cleaner on them and it wipes clean...
A surprisingly good amount of room actually. Doesn’t contact the steering wheel when at its lowest setting, and the mount is still there and it pretty easily pulls in and out from there along with the cables, so its quite accessible.
I have a snorkel on so while I did see the drop windshield and route method, there was a grommet near the clutch that made it a reasonably quick entry.
And no Aux switches on mine. Do wish I got that option as it’s fairly inexpensive, but spendy to do afterwards.
I have a 12v power port tap...
I just got it in so will need to do some testing with it. I also got the 6db antenna so want to eventually do some testing, but will need to wait till I can get some friends out. But from what it seems, the 3db ghost should be better in woods and elevation as it makes a bit more of a cloud...
First oil change at 5K and Installed a GMRS radio
Midland MXT275 radio
Midland Ghost Antenna
Midland handset extension cable
And for the antenna mount and handset mount got it over at CoolTech LLC
I’ll do a little more of a write up of the install and such, or add to one of the recent GMRS...
I couldn’t find else that’s as fun and as practical as a convertible 4x4 with a bed. And it matches the open top outdoor fun of my buggy too. Which also had to be gotten because it too has a mini pickup bed. And as a hobby wrencher, it’s a primo platform to mod.
The price for all this was...
Jeep with a bed!
I always wished to be cool enough to Jeep a Jeep, but I needed a truck bed for haulin, movin, campin, home projects and the like.
I had a decent and loaded up Colorado before this, but when the pandemic hit and job went remote, well, gas mileage was no longer a concern, and...
Nope!
Far deeper than anything a code reader can do. I had a Colorado diesel that had all sorts of limp home modes. All of which required a limp, straight to the dealer to clear.
Total new tuning might be able to remove it My 'rado was tuned, but it didn't clear codes, it just removed the...

The fragging intermediate plate -
Its a thin disk of steel. A 2000degree steel tortilla. Because it has friction material on both sides. And no real contact points to anything else, but through the flanges at the end. So both sides produce friction, and as they are fiber, really won’t help absorb heat away from the system. So...
Ditto
+ Mounts, antennas and the accessory luv. Reached out to CoolTech and they did a good deal for me based off the JL kit they offered, but with the front antenna mount and some other accessories.
If salt and sand is a thing, I think you may want to consider those oil based treatments. Salt and water will eventually get under and through the paint undercoat, as the sand will sandblast the coating. Then you get corrosion happening behind the rubberized paint. It "looks" good, but it can be...
Handhelds are a great way to start. They aren't at all amazing range wise, but you can get several of them for the price for the vehicle one. This is important if your local crew doesn't have coms yet, as vehicle to vehicle they work great.
I started with a few baofengs, and put one in every...
I am for tomfoolery. Its a Jeep. They are fun. But they shouldn't be grenading and catching fire. At most, I should be out a clutch, not out a whole Jeep cuz it went up in flames.
They are quite new, not 50-100k miles and beaten on. So if they are failing this young. What of them in 3-5 years...
That's an interesting point on ESS. It would like a lighter flywheel I bet, as it takes a big load off the strain of the starter than turning a big flywheel. That said... I'd tazer out the ESS from turning back on and go single if the aftermarket kit clears its second revision. As the results...
