For us budget mainly. With the 2nd garage project we are slightly over $150k invested this year alone on this property. Since we are not financing anything (all cash) we feel like we are at the limit and can't withdraw anymore. Our property is on the larger scale as we have 18 acres.
Here are some views from the design program I used. The truck on the lift is up to the scale of a JT although it is a generic image. The vehicle next to it is supposed to be SXS to scale. The cabinet the right is an infrared sauna.
Initially I wanted to go with a tree bay metal barn garage 44' wide by 30' deep but I got the quotes for the slab and slight earth work I almost fainted. The cheapest was $26k.
I have the JT in the design program. I used the exact dimensions for the JTR. It's not on the image but you can drag the truck and place it inside the garage and simulate it being on the lift. I still have about 5 feet to the front and 3 feet to the sides while on the lift. It all came to wants...
The vehicle on the right bay is the SXS. The truck is going to be parked in the other garage. Only time in the new garage should be for maintenance and work with the lift.
YJ in front of ATV. Couldn't go bigger due to cement cost in the area being too high. Just for the slab we are looking at roughly the same cost as the garage. Had to leave funds for the lift and other equipment.
Work already started on the cement slab for my garage/shop. We already had a finished pad for our camper with full hookups but decided it would serve us best if we place the garage in that spot. We will reutilize the RV hookups on a small 1/2 bath. My plan is a 2 post car lift, work bench and...
Nice, I also have a YJ, tractor, ATV and SXS that I tow from time to time on my flat bed trailer. By far the worse to tow is the heavy tractor. The 3.6 felt gutless. How much land do you have?
We tow a Geo Pro 19bh at around 3,400 lbs.
The 20BHS has bunks and a slide out for the dinette. It weighs around 3,650lbs. I think quality wise, Geo Pros are great.
I don't recommend towing near the limit. You will feel it. I would say 4,000 lbs or less would be adequate for the JT. That way...
I traded a '21 GMC 1500 AT4 Duramax diesel for the first Gladiator I had. The GMC didn't fit in our mountain house garage we move to when I retired last year. Diesels are very fuel efficient when not towing. Diesel off course feels better at take off due the amount of torque they generate. I...
Another thing that was not mentioned (I think) is that in some instances you lose 1,000 lbs. towing capacity by going with a diesel. At least when compared to a JTR. From a Mojave auto to a diesel it's a wash.
A stronger engine offering would certainly help. A detuned Hurricane producing at least 375lbs of torque and similar HP rating would be fantastic. I'm sure Jeep does not want to cannibalize RAM sales by offering the Hurricane, sadly.
Towed our tractor last week. I drove to town to see if I could find anyone needing help with removing flood debris and to clear driveways. I wanted to donate my time and fuel to help the community. Turns out most people had cleared their properties and the ones that were still bad had crews...
In my garage. Well our second metal garage that will be installed in about a month. The other garage is full of crap, tools, furniture and other belongings that we brought from our other house. We owned both houses at the same time and both were fully furnished. Most maintenance and repairs I...
We bought ours mainly for work around the property. It's only 36HP so I won't be winning any races. I tell you, this thing is effing loud. I'm already looking to pack the muffler and add sound deadening to the back wall and around and under the seat. In Ruidoso it is street legal so we may get...
It's actually a YJ. No plans on getting rid of my YJ. Way too much money in it. I like going into town and riding around in it. Looking at the UTV next to the YJ, the UTV looks higher and almost the same size.
Not sure if the MPG I got from this tank when we picked up the UTV is good or bad. Going to the store from our house is 75 miles away. The empty flat bed trailer is 2,000lbs. There are some hills at the beginning and the rest 60 mils is mostly flat. Coming back with the UTV loaded (3,740lbs...
Redarc because I already had one from my previous JTW. On my Rubicon I decided to mount it in a place where it is almost out of sight but where I can still reach it and see the numbers.
