Yes I can postively confirm that the inner portion of the bumper is steel. Here’s a picture showing my magnetic flashlight attached to the steel portion.
Short answer yes but I had to trim a little off the corners of the skid plate ( on my rubicon) as well as some small tabs on the aluminum bumper on the bottom.
Here are a couple of pics of what I did. I still have to paint the trimmed areas before I do the install But I’ll post a completed...
There’s a thread here about using the eBay aluminum bumper with a winch.
I decided to give it a shot as I like the OEM look but didn’t want the weight of a steel bumper.
Im almost finished (just have to tiddy up the wiring) but so far I’m really liking it.
I have the AEV suspension kit so it’s...
So I’m getting into the install and in looking at your fairlead I’m wondering if you just drilled out the plastic cover to accommodate the bolts and the rope?
I think it looks better like you did it but just wanted to confirm.
Thanks!
I had a client several years ago who was the R&D head of one of the companies that make the additive packages for the major oil companies. When I was finally able to afford my first Porsche I asked him how to best break in the engine as far as OIC were concerned. He said that all manufacturers...
Watched a TFL towing video up the Ike Gauntlet comparing a Gladiator, Ridgeline and GMC Canyon all towing a ~5000# trailer.
While the Jeep only had 3.73 gearing it was the worst of the bunch. The guys even said that the engine (or more specifically the truck) needs a better engine and mentioned...
I used my hooks to pull an F-150 stuck in about 2 feet of snow near the North Rim of the GC. The biggest problem was that the Ford didn’t have any tow points!
As for reversing the tow hooks I’ve often wondered about it too.
If you do it the way you prescribe you won’t be able to replace the filter.
it’s really not that hard of a project to do if you take your time. It’s even easier if you have someone help you lower the pan to reduce spilage.
Now I’m going down a new rabbit hole!
Does anyone know what gauge wiring is stock?
I’m already running lights and a few things and am getting ready to install a winch
Speaking of maintenance…
Besides oil changes what else have you done…?
- transmission and filter?
- Differentials?
- Transfer case fluid?
If you’ve been keeping up on those then there is a good chance that your JT will continue to last a long time.
I just did this today at just over 59K miles. The fluid was definitely dark (dirty) and there was quite a bit of magnetic debris on the magnets but following the great directions above made it relatively easy.
i did have a challenge removing the pan but ended up taking a breaker bar to flex the...
Bill I was wondering why I haven’t seen you posting on the other parts of this forum.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife for a speedy recovery.
Just got mine today but it will be a few days (weeks?) before I get into it.
However, the package was well wrapped and there wasn’t any damage to the interior.
Here’s the weigh of the package (87.4#) and the weight of just the bumper (33.4#).
The end caps are removable..
I agree. Either move the jeep back or drop the plow down to the deck (this would be better anyway). With the plow off the ground the weigh is transferred to the back wheel. You might actually have to do both to find the sweet spot.
Do you have a brake controller on the JT?
