0 offset is still a hefty amount of poke, I get rocks and mud slinging up to my doors all the time. If you like the AEV designs I've read people have success with those at a +18 +25 offset which has them right at the edge of the fenders.

17x8.5, 0 offset which I believe is 4.75" backspacing (half of the wheel width, since 0 offset mounts at the centerline of the wheel) on an 8.5 wheel.
