34,000 miles and the front end is getting a bit “giggly” and pulls right regardless of the alignment. Excessive play in tie rods. Going to Rusty’s Tie Rod and Draglink set up. Will share once I get it on the Jeep. Also found a couple of bad axle end control arm bushings - going to replace...
I had a Ramsey Rep8000 on my 1953 M-38A1. Bought it in 1995. Then put it in my 1998 K1500 Silverado, then put it on my 2013 JKU and sold it with the Jeep in 2020. I used it and abused it over and over and never had an issue. When I got my JT I wanted to buy a Ramsey but it wouldn’t fit in the...
Gearing and Centerforce clutch helps addres this. I’m running 5.13 axle gears for 37” tires and a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch. Much better. Reverse is still a little too tall when backing a trailer up a hill - even an empty, 1,500lb trailer so I put it in low for that.
No issues for sure with the 285 series tire. Typically use 4.5” backspacing for a 12.5” tire but you can get away with up to 5.2”. Minor rub at full lock can be fixed with a couple of washers on the steering stops - yeah you lose a tiny fraction of your steering angle but it’s no big deal...
I changed tires to 37s and installed the Tazer and it was fine. I had issues with ASS (auto stop start - aka ESS) after later regearing and had to completely disconnect the battery and do the relearn.
My $0.02 - keep the change
If they put 2 guys on this to get the work done faster - great! I want my toys back as fast as possible.
Time is a stupid metric for the customer - all you care about is results. As long as you are satisfied with the results and the price - you are fine. Also, I...
I ended up regearing to 5.13 gears and putting in a Centerforce clutch. Totally different beast now. Still not fast but responsive and feels more powerful.
