  1. My purchase is coming down to Overland Selec-Trac w LSD -vs- Rubicon Rock-Trac

Whoa! Good post mate, I hadn't seen that. It looks like they might be dumping the Sport S and Overland altogether leaving us with just two models. And the new higher payload means the 2021 model might be exempt from Luxury Car Tax here... thanks mate (but also argh, I might have to snap up an...
  2. My purchase is coming down to Overland Selec-Trac w LSD -vs- Rubicon Rock-Trac

No plans on towing anything beyond vehicle limits. No plans on larger tyres unless I find myself needing higher diff clearance. But I do take your point on the 4.10 which is only available on Rubicon. There isn't a 'Max Tow' option here, unfortunately.
  3. My purchase is coming down to Overland Selec-Trac w LSD -vs- Rubicon Rock-Trac

Not really mate, mostly I'll be up in the high country when camping. This YouTube video is shot in my State, includes the great Aussie tradition of sending your wife into the river first to prevent damaging the truck :P
  4. My purchase is coming down to Overland Selec-Trac w LSD -vs- Rubicon Rock-Trac

New to this and could use your big brains. I'd buy a Mojave but they're not available in Australia. I've poured over O vs R differences, got some great responses on this thread and followed the rabbit down this here hole. The Overland and Rubicon are the same price here and come in 8sp Auto...
  5. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

Just a thanks for the help so far. I've been a bit slow on the reply as we've had a bit wind here, knocked out power and mobile phone coverage for a week.
  6. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

OK I understand this approach. Thanks. How important is the 3.73 (Overland) vs 4.10 (Rubicon) gearing? Just asking that question probably tells you how much I have to learn.
  7. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

Sure is mate. 4.10 gears and wide track Dana's on the Rubicon, which I think brings the Rubi closer to a Mojave (closer but not 'close') and I was thinking these features are harder to modify compared to shocks, for example.
  8. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

I had never heard of pre-runner, thanks for that rabbit hole, now I know what to drive in the end times! I found those Falcon shocks locally https://www.sbroffroad.com.au/Falcon-JK-2D-3-3-Adjust-Piggyback-Shock so thanks for the tip. I'm starting to get it.
  9. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

Oh don’t get me started on EV. I’d buy EV Rivian or Jeep in a minute, but it’s still too soon :( Yeah, it’s just the Jostle I’m trying overcome. Totally. So I’m I’m happy to get Overland or Rubi plus suspension upgrade opinions. Cheers mate!
  10. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

Haha indeed, that was a helpful story from ā€˜future homer’, thanks mate.
  11. No Mojave in Australia. Start with Overland or Rubicon?

Hey folks You see where this is going. I would love your opinion on which platform you would start with and maybe a few pointers towards my MojaveWannabe. I need a truck that's less about low and slow and more about sailing over forest tracks, long corrugated dirt roads, pot holes, and highway...
