I have been taking mine off for the winter. But I have noticed that it seems to take a day or so for the seals/gaskets to change shape to shut out wind noise. Anyway, no problems so far.
By the way, a dipstick oil extractor, or fluid extractor, can be really handy. A quick, no-mess way to lower the level if you think it's too high. Also, my go-to for draining oil from small engines around the farm.
I have one of the low profile underbody sprayers on wheels with a few fan shaped nozzles. Nice for a sports car.
But for the Jeep I am really happy with this. Spins really fast as it sprays. Only two nozzles so pressure keeps up even with a modest pressure washer. Works great for spring...
I have always lived in MN, and never undercoated a vehicle until my JT. I found out the hard way the difference between trucks and cars/SUVs in our climate. All the cars I drove in the winter, from an AWD 911 to our 100K mile Lexus RX350 are almost fully covered underneath with plastic panels...
Wow, what a year up here! The first real winter we have had for a while. I am no expert, but I did go with a sprayer. Even without a huge air compressor, it seemed to work fine. I just went slower so the compressor could keep up.
I used extension tips to coat the inside of the frame where...
Might be a little off, but easy to tweak. If it's quiet and does not leak I am not sure if I would adjust, however.
I attached the official service manual instructions for alignment. You might need to look around for a few pieces of plastic or something non-scratching you can stack up to...
I was looking at this when I bought my JT in 2024. I wanted something I could DIY. Fluid Film has good reviews, but is supposedly a little runny and a bit smelly. I went with Woolwax, and bought a nice sprayer. This would actually be kind of fun if I had a lift, but not quite as fun on jack...
Looking through the battery threads, I wonder if those that experienced early failure had a dealer that let them discharge too low before purchase? Lots of Jeeps on the lots, and the electronics have a bit of a parasitic load. AGMs do not like full discharge.
I found this out the hard...
68 and retired. I really do not feel old. BUT, things I used to lift easily, like extension ladders, 4x8 plywood, etc., seem heavier than before. That makes me feel a little old.
The other thing that made me feel old was seeing the Rolling Stones in 2024 and having it sponsored by AARP . ...
I'm fine with the highway manners. Mileage tanks after 70 MPH. Steering felt a little vague but I added a Fox 2.0 ATS stabilizer and I am really happy with it now. To be honest, main concern on the highway is waiting for a rock to take out another windshield . . .
The 2.0 typically runs $400-$450. For me, I liked that it allowed me to adjust the steering feel. My previous car had 3 settings for the steering; touring, sport and track. The jeep to me felt like "touring." The ATS with a setting of 12 felt more like "sport." I am a rookie when it comes...
Congrats! I traded a C7 manual on my JT. Sounds funny, but having way more fun with my JT. Given the short Minnesota season, bad roads, curbs, potholes, I was only driving my Vette about 2000 miles a year. I really don't miss it. But if I had room in the garage, I would consider a 2 door...
Just a minor suggestion: I also traded a sports car for my Jeep. I'm really happy with the choice, but I was happier when I added the Fox 2.0 ATS steering stabilizer to tweak the steering. Brought the steering-feel quite a bit closer to what I preferred.
PS: I'm also a fan of capless. Have...
Thanks! By the way, if anyone is trying to find rollers, google "Conveyor Rollers" That's how I found these, but it was years ago and I can't find the order.
I made it about 5000 miles before a rock took mine out. It would have taken any windshield out. But then it took over 2 months to get the GG replacement!
There is a local car museum/dealer that has this in stock. (You pay a small fee to visit and look over the cars. The cars are on consignment too, if you want to purchase. Everything from C1 Vettes to a Batmobile replica for 300K)
Really cool I have to admit. Dozens more photos here: LINK
In the Spring the panels are replaced with a Sunrider. But next year I plan on driving around for a day with the doors off--if we like it I will order Exceed's tube doors. Minnesota weather is not very predictable, but if we have a good stretch going I can leave them off for a few days anyway.
Need option "I don't like rain" ;) We did take the Freedom Panels off first thing. We liked it, so we ordered a Bestop Sunrider as soon as we got home.
