yeah it does look pretty close. On my old JKUR the cable would rub into the grille when it was all the way spooled. Just remember when you're recovering, there'll be a couple dozen feet or so of line unspooled from the drum which should give you the clearance you need. You'll just have to pay...
the only problem with that is that spot in the metal wasn't there when I installed it, happened after winching out. and the other spot where the winch itself made contact with the bumper, looks like the entire winch plate flexed upwards
I'm liking that plate holder as well! inexpensive but does the job. From the pics it will fit a hawse fairlead behind the licence plate so that's how i'll do it. As long as the opening in the fairlead is smaller than any of the other metal, it'll pass through with no issues.
Something else isn't right here.. I thought I was tripping about the photo I posted above but now that the sun is out I can see this deformation on the front of the bumper where the winch plate welds on the back. What's your guys' thoughts on this???
Maybe i'm slow on the trolly, but looks like @Northridge4x4 just got this sweet new feature for off road mods:

I just put a Rugged Ridge bumper on my JT. The box said it fits JK as well. I thought too that JK - JT/JL weren't compatible. But those frame rail ends sure looked exactly the same.
Thanks! and of course the age old question.... why did I wait so long to do this
I made 2 recoveries with it earlier in the day just fine. On our way out of the mountains I went to re-spool & tension the line. Unspooled it without any load and the line just fell out at the end.
The copper...
Then after inspecting it today, it looks like the winch plate was flexing during recovery and pulled the winch into the bumper frame. yes all the bolts are tight
Here's where things get weird.... umm anyone know what the hell is going on here? My line was tied on to the drum, end totally frayed, with this smashed to shit thimble doing nothing. And what looks like steel cable gouges in the drum.
