Agreed, the dealers in our area seem to gouge people pretty bad and even before Covid/chip shortage they were always tacking on extra fees whenever they could and refusing to negotiate or budge.
2 of the local dealers outright said no to a factory order when I asked and tried to steer me into...
I've noticed this as well, people that order from Gupton have been averaging around a month while others that go with local dealers seem to have orders sit for multiple months.
This right here, I walked into a local CDJR dealer to test drive a used 2020 base Sport they had (just to see what it was like in person). $42K asking price for a lemon law buyback with 6k miles on it :CWL:
Still for sale 3 weeks later only this time they slapped a lift kit, 35s and rubi...
It will be interesting to see if Sting Gray comes back. I am new to Jeep so I am not familiar with their process from MY to MY...do they consistently bring back colors for repeating years?
This here exactly, I'll be happy if I get mine before the snow falls. In the meantime I have a beater car to get to work every day (2005 Buick Lesabre given to me by my grandmother) and a bus that I'm busy converting to a motorhome
Same response I got. Like others have said, Jeep Chat doesn't seem to really have up to date information. I've pretty much limited myself to checking once a week or less at this point. It'll be awhile.
I ordered a base Sport on July 27. Only options are spray in bedliner, hard top...
Ram killing off the potential Dakota revival certainly points to Stellantis keeping the Gladiator in the product portfolio for years to come.
Besides I would imagine R&D costs have largely been recouped at this point.
I had a 2nd gen Tacoma with the 4.0. Test drove a 2017 Tacoma before ordering the Gladiator, glad I did. As you mentioned the seating position is awful in the newer Tacomas plus the acceleration is horrid. I don't know what Toyota was thinking when they put the 3.5 in the 3rd gens, especially...
Wonder if this will give production priority to base Sport & Sport S builds....unless the chips affected are part of the standard parts used on all JTs.
Did you try shopping around at the local WI dealers? For me it was mostly an exercise in futility, half the ones I contacted didn't even bother to give me a price. 2 outright told me they don't/can't do factory orders and a few said maybe for MSRP + >$1000 in mandatory dealer fees & addons...
Ordered with Gupton yesterday. Base Sport in Sting Gray with automatic, hardtop, tinted windows, spray in bedliner, regular tow package and aux switches :)
I initially wanted to wait for the 2022 MY but I was pretty set on getting Sting Gray and there is no guarantee that color will be back...
Is sting grey likely to continue into MY2022? Looking to possibly order one but I'm curious if my build gets flexed into 22 if sting gray drops off the menu.
