  1. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

I was expressing thought from the old days. Maybe not a well-considered thought. :) I remember the lights and radio dimming on Mom's car when it was started. I've always thought that there was a function with the solenoid above and beyond starting, e.g., protecting the car's system from...
  2. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

The documentation errors might account for why dealer techs have so much trouble diagnosing battery problems. Well, that and the fact that the aux battery is difficult to access. I'm reading through the thread for the 3rd time and some of the info is starting to congeal in my 72-year-old...
  3. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

The hardest part about diagnosing battery problems at home is that the batteries still test good (using normal methods and standards), but they are not good enough for the stop/start to function. My main determination for the "hard to diagnose" statement is that my battery problems took...
  4. Are the batteries really isolated during ESS stops?

I've been following this thread since it started. I've been tempted to jump in a couple of times. I've resisted thinking that eventually youse guys would reach a consensus. I've lost patience. Here is my 2 cents: In real life, the JL/JT battery system suxs. It starts with mediocre...
  5. Trail Suggestions Needed - Moab

The Red rock 4-Wheelers publish are an excellent resource for Moab Trail info. RR4W Trails - Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. I've found their rating system to be on point. Trail Ratings - Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. I wouldn't advise you to try any trail rated more than 4 on your first time out...
  6. Aux battery delete now issues

I’m thinking as I’m writing and it’s not going well. I bet F42 is for the power to operate the relay, not the power being passed through. If that is true, then you are right.
  7. Aux battery delete now issues

just looking at the diagram, and not yet doing any research, it appears that you are feeding power from N3 to N1. I’ll have to look it up to see how N1 is otherwise fused.

  9. Aux battery delete now issues

You did what? There are 2 cables on the positive of the aux battery. Note that the positive of the main and the positives on the aux do not got to the same post on the fuse buss.
  10. Receiver Skid Plate

I've wheeled in Moab on Class 4 trails without a hitch skid. I bumped the back a couple of times but suffered no damage.
  11. Lift kit? - man , I’m overwhelmed

I put a Mopar lift on my Wrangler and I am happy with it. The kit netted 2" on my Rubicon. The same kit on sport models can result in 3-3.5" of lift. I needed new shocks and I got that out of the Mopar lift. FWIW, I went with the Fox shocks. I do not like Bilsteins (left over feelings...

  13. Dash Voltage reading vs Multimeter at Battery

Short answer - yes, the charging system is OK . I believe the majority of the problems with JL and JT Jeeps is caused by poor quality batteries. I also believe that there is no good reason to have 2 batteries, especially when you can get a premium H7/Group 94 battery that has power equal to...
  14. Dash Voltage reading vs Multimeter at Battery

The dash voltmeter is near worthless as long as you have 2 batteries in parallel. The multimeter reading means very little if you have 2 batteries in parallel. When checking the volts level of a battery, any load will reduce the measurement. In my experience, 12.4vDC is when the Captain...
  15. Track bar measurement for a 2.5 level kit

When I put my lift on, I saved the track bar installation for last thing. The axle centered itself after I bounced the suspension a couple of times by pressing on the front bumper. I then installed the track bar, putting the non-adjustable end on first and then turning the adjustable end...
  16. TPMS light after switching from 2023 sport stock wheels to Mojave stock wheels

You do not have to dismount the tires. My tire shop used their machines bead breaker to push the side of the tire to the inside and changed the TPMS sensor in the space available. Done like this, the tires did not have to be rebalanced. Swapping Gladiator and Wrangler TPMS | Jeep Gladiator...
