I pretty much agree…. But figure since we are on a cloud might as well shoot for the moon and just figure with pockets like this a v8 is eventually in order anyways. 42’s for a little clearance make up that the portals have the advantage on. ???
Can you post more information on the Mojave frame reinforcement locations? I am pretty sure some of this is shared with the diesels.
Steel knuckles are also on the diesels.
Slightly confused- springs and shocks work in unison….. so when you have a matched pair and then you change the spring...
Your jeep, I wish I had pockets like this… but my opinion…. For what the portals are going to run you- I would go 60’s and proper gearing. Bump the tires to 42” and have a good time. Portals are “cool” but, 42’s and 60’s are cooler….
Add $3,500 for a psc hydro assist kit. Going to need them...
Holy wide- full width axles and 3.5” bs or? Can you provide more details- axle width and wheel bs?
What’s your total outside to outside tire width ?
Another not so cheap? But cheap in comparison to a $4k RTT..

seriously awesome.
Snomaster fridges…. I’m bias- best out there...
I would add at 3.5”+ front lift and best “ride”- long arm front end ???

Depending on the length of the shocks you choose… front drive shaft is not too far off.
Drag...
I have not had any issues like what you have described here and have towed right under the legal limit….. and it does fine at 65-70mph… (terrible diesel motor though, and has a different transmission than the gas powered. - could be apples to oranges comparison.)
Just curious, if your Jeep is...
Keep us posted.
Really happy with the XT’s so far. Recent snow was a test…. lol did great!
I regret not just ordering 38’s right out of the gate….
Man- I was totally going to go preach the GFC…… went out and measured the roof height of ours…. Good luck man. I’m @77” to the top of the cab with a 2” and 37’s :| you are going to be super confined at that height.
And by super confined, I mean a setup that does not stick over the cab height…...
Just curious- is it a nylock or pinch nut?
if you over torque either they come loose with pretty minimal vibration.
Nylocks have a max torque and remove of 5 times. Pinch nuts are 7.
I would like to say this is just a fun fact…. But racing in the desert has forced me to learn this…..
If...
I think that this is sound advice “most” of the time. It should be added to always check off road sway bars on a lift/jackstands and the axle at full droop to ensure the sway bar does not invert.
A level sway bar is a rule of thumb and great advise for cars, with off road applications often...
I am willing to bet it’s just the factory shocks. We were pretty unhappy with the ride factory shocks offered too….
Bilstien 5100’s- full set can be had around $400. This is an upgrade and is probably the cheapest option out there.
Since all that was done were spacers- a little longer shock...
