  1. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

I agree, it seems different than what you hear most.
  2. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

So 95% of burning off soot levels only occuring during an active regen is normal?
  3. FINALLY saw my first corrosion case yesterday.

Well I won't go dig those posts up, but I do believe the hinges are not aluminum. They are getting galvanized corrosion via dissimilar metals regardless if they are not 100% steel. Most of the corrosion starts on or near the hinges. The surfaces aren't painted under the mating surfaces from what...
  4. FINALLY saw my first corrosion case yesterday.

It will show, be patient... the factory mounted the hinges, then painted. Aluminum on steel always leads to corrosion.
  5. Low Ash Oil That Meets Spec?

No problem. Also, If warranty is a concern, stick to the Mobil, the verbage used on everything is ridiculous and if they say anything, the Mobil checks more boxes.
  6. Low Ash Oil That Meets Spec?

I checked my T6 bottle when I got home, it does have the API donut spoken of in the owner's manual. I think the API rating superseded the MS in level of importance. This option looks good too, I might go this way as well...
  7. Low Ash Oil That Meets Spec?

Ok, so I looked into this quite a bit, and I could be wrong about T6 (not afraid to admit that lol), I just know that Jeep themselves mentioned T6 was ok at some point due to the owners manual update being less strict on the requirements. I may switch to another oil since T6 is still iffy I...
  8. Low Ash Oil That Meets Spec?

It may not state that spec specifically but thats not a huge deal. MOPAR states oils meeting equivalent standards are ok, including API. T6 Meets this req as it also hits both API CI-4 and CES 20081, both ok for the same engine in the Rams. As you search, keep in mind those specs as well. You...
  9. Low Ash Oil That Meets Spec?

I use Shell Rotella T6 which works well and is also highly regarded. Its cost friendly when buying a 3 gallon pack on amazon.
  10. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

One week update. The new DPF seems to work ok, however now that I have a Banks idash I have noticed a few things with my soot levels. I've always heard that you should drive for 45min to an hour on the freeway weekly if your diesel sees a lot of short city trips to clear out the soot. The thing...
  11. Swapping up to the 4.10s

Ah I gotcha, I misread that lol. Yes indeed your point was valid then.
  12. Swapping up to the 4.10s

Fair. From the sounds of it, my internal debate is slowly leaning to 4.56s, in my situation, that is probably the best route. I load mine up enough and tow moderately, plus these damn mountains here ensure lower gears, pretty to look at and be in though. The real problem with going to 4.56s is...
  13. Swapping up to the 4.10s

Didn't think you could get 4.10s factory in a JT, I think they are all 3.73, even with max tow. (with a diesel)
  14. Swapping up to the 4.10s

True, I just wasn't sure if big picture the 4.10s would get you in 7th more on freeways still, thus eating up more mpgs, but from the sounds of it, 4.10s are keeping in 8th often enough for many. The internal debate rages on...
  15. Offroad baby, pucker up.

As many have said, time off road will gain you the most but I also recommend staying as stock as you can for as long as you can, i.e upgrade only when you have to for specific trails or challenges. How I gained my comfort level while never wheeling with anyone (I also have no one to go with)...
  16. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

So I picked the truck up today. To my surprise, it had a brand new hood, tailgate, and doors. They even re-painted my fenders. They didn't tell me that was gonna happen but its a pleasant plus lol, considering it was free. Said they found corrosion. But the service advisor did say he talked to...
  17. Swapping up to the 4.10s

Curious, how do you figure 4.10s will get better MPG than 4.56s? I'm currently trying to decide which as well and while we obviously can't be too nit picky about mpg when we bought a jeep, I'd still like the find the "best" mpg ratio. The thing I found while living in Utahs mountainous areas is...
  18. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

So they haven't been replaced yet since the dealer originally said they were on back order. They said they were the cam sensor and O2 sensor.
  19. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

Hmm, did he by chance have the code P026D? This could be related, through out ownership, my truck has thrown P026D about every 5K. This is a fuel code that it seems many diesel JTs get. It would always self clear, but I took it to a different dealer to get that issue fixed a while back and they...
  20. DPF Failure @ 27k Miles

ok, so after talking with the dealer a third time, they admitted they didn't really know the cause of my failure. They simply read the codes as DPF failed. I think they were just spitting out words the first time since there is no "crack" internal. So.. this could be the sensor that Biodiesel...
