  1. HAM or CB?

CBs are widely used for wheeling; they are required equipment for Jeep Jamborees. They will turn you away if you don't have one. ORV parks use them, they are really needed. But if you don't wheel, probably don't need one.
  2. Anybody lightly optioning their JT

I ordered a Sport S. With these options: - Auto - Bedliner - Hard top - Max Tow Package That's pretty lightly optioned to me. I went with the bedliner because it's cheaper than the guy in town who does it; I am rural and don't have options for things. But in hindsight, my truck is in D status...
  3. Late avail Colors pushed back?

Too early to say. They have shortages of steel bumpers, soft tops, and bedliners. If that doesn't get cleared up soon everything will get backed up. What's going on with Mexican tariffs? Is the order volume sustainable? Too many variables to do more than take a wag at it
  4. New Poll - who is stuck in status “D”

Mine is in D; ordered 5/4. It says "Status: D - Firm schedule" what the heck does that mean? I assume I am hung up on the bedliner. Sport S with max tow and bedliner, that's pretty much it
  5. 20 Things About JT That Make No Sense

They are completely ignorant when it comes to jeeps. For example when they talk about poor approach and departure angles and the rock rails as proof. Well you know what, my 2 door Rubi Wrangler came with the same rails, it has nothing to do with length. It has everything to do with protecting a...
  6. 37s with lift, what modifications to reinforce stuff?

I don't have any experience with the JL, but with the JK 37s put a strain on the axles you don't see with 35s and below. Definitely gussets, and chromally shafts. The splines will fatigue over time.
  7. Check Engine Light

This is pretty typical. Jeep Service in my experience is so backed up that it can takes days stretching over a week to get an appointment in the shop. I find that not calling and driving up to the service bay helps Jeeps also in my experience get a lot of false positives on engine lights. A...
  8. 4 Wheel High rear locker... advantage?

You can get a programmer. Gives you more options like locking in 4Hi I find 4Hi very useful even at low speeds. In the JK, and this may change with the JL and JT, I have not wheeled either; but wheeling for extended period in 4Lo in the JKs would overheat the transmission fluid, and they just...
  9. 4 Wheel High rear locker... advantage?

If I were to build a jeep again, and it looks like I am with the JT, I would do LSD front and locker rear. What they don't tell you about front lockers is that turning the steering wheel while locked is like wrestling a bear. You see a lot of people with front lockers also install hyrdo assist...
  10. Snorkels

Changing the transmission fluid is easily fixed my attaching a small hose to the transmission breather and running it into the engine compartment, which if you are driving through water is something you should do anyway.
  11. Snorkels

This is very accurate. The danger of fording water in a Jeep is you soak your ignition module. This happens before water hits the air intake. The snorkel protects the air intake. But you do get benefit, by being higher on the jeep, it pulls cooler air and acts like a cold air intake, Which...
  12. Horrible Stance

I think it's due the the aftermarket wheels and tires chosen, the backspacing chosen, and as said even possibly spacers. Now why you do this is to fit a wider tire on the jeep for traction off road, and to allow the tires to turn without rubbing on something, because if you stuff a wide tire so...
  13. Jeep Gladiator Dead in >24 hours. Never buy from Lake Elsinore CDJR.

That totally sucks. I hope it gets resolved.
  14. Discussion: Base Gladiator Sport vs Tacoma Off Road

This is again at SMORR, showing the benefits of solid axles and disconnects. Solid axles is something others do not have - you get flex and keep the wheels on the ground, which is more traction, stability, all good things. Again, Trac Loc LSD. You can do a lot with just an LSD, or even open
  15. Discussion: Base Gladiator Sport vs Tacoma Off Road

This is me driving my rig at SMORR (Southern Missouri Off Road Reservation iirc), with Trac Loc LSD and no lockers
  16. Discussion: Base Gladiator Sport vs Tacoma Off Road

There is so much opened up just by adding front swaybar disconnects which allow the solid axle to articulate and keep all wheels on the ground. Costs about $100 and even I can install myself and I am a klutz with tools. Airing down is another big hitter. Getting your PSI down to 10, the tires...
  17. Rubicon vs Sport S Fenders (35's Fit?)

I'm just saying they have different carriers, the tooth count is different, the pinion is different. Parts just can't be swapped. If they dropped the "trac loc" carrier in you would lose the 4.10 gearing and go back to 3,73. It's a completely different build.
  18. Discussion: Base Gladiator Sport vs Tacoma Off Road

I have wheeled a lot, and there are conditions where an LSD performs better, and conditions where lockers perform better. LSDs are always on and you get a lot of use out of them. Lockers are only usable where the conditions are slick (to allow wheel slippage when turning). The actual conditions...
  19. Rubicon vs Sport S Fenders (35's Fit?)

Acually, the Rubi axles have different carriers and parts are not generally interchangeable between Rubi axles and all the others. I would bet this is why. As Rubis come with lockers, they probably don't make one that fits. Not mussing much; it's a brake clutch diff so not a traditional LSD
