I've come to accept that some people will continue to believe bad information even if you try to force-feed them the facts. To me, it's just not worth it to try and shout at the world through a forum post.
And to be honest, I'm not sure how much of a practical difference the exact moment of PCR...
But why? What are we trying to do here? Everything quoted and observed here matches what the TSM is saying: it's only separate at a crank event.
You could determine this yourself by putting a meter on the PCR and watching it as you drive and stop, but it's going to go so fast that you likely...
The goal of the dual battery system isn’t to isolate which battery powers which components, the goal is to maintain a constant voltage during starting events. I don’t see how separating it prior to a start event would help achieve that goal.
People see the term “auxiliary battery” and tend to...
So you don't think it ever separates the batteries at any time? I ask because you're pointing to things that clearly says it does. It does this during ESS crank events to protect system voltage provided to the electronics. We've seen people who remove the AUX have issues with ESS voltage drops...
I mean, the system design is to separate the batteries. That's the whole purpose of it. It's not like people figured that out via random testing and put the pieces together themselves. Diagrams and information from Jeep show this to be the case.
That's where they all break. It's a retaining clip up there, no hinge. That tapered cylinder pressure-fits to the hole. You could just push it back up there and it'll hold for a bit, and then let go.
The linked repair kit just retains it from the bottom instead. It will fix it.
