The lady and I are heading out to Missoula, MT for a wedding on 7/12 and I'm hoping to offroad while out west. We will possibly be in the Grand Teton / Yellowstone area before the wedding. Maybe as early as 7/7 and could be there a few days, and then to Missoula by at least 7/11, if not earlier...
That's better than my OEM, built around June '23. Probably crapped out a while ago based on the damage. I don't drive in the rain much, so hadn't noticed.
However, I'm in Michigan and park outside, so I've got sun and snow. Which is probably why the more expensive ones have never served me...
OEM is $22 for one blade at RockAuto (under Wrangler section, there's fewer options under Gladiator). While yours are $18 for two blades, plus two refills, plus free shipping. That's pretty cheap, how are they holding up now?
I was going to try the Trico Silicone Ceramic ($40 delivered for two)...
Looking tall!
Couldn't decide between geo brackets and extended LCAs, so you did both?
Obviously everything is lifted 2" + tire difference, but did you happen to measure the before and after clearance under the truck? Are the Geos just as low as stock (other than tire lift)?
Very cool indeed, some tough rock climbing, and mud. I'll be in Montana next year, but will either be on 33s or 35s with 2" lift, so I'll have to skip that one.
Anyone been more recently know the trail conditions? There seems to be a good amount of contradiction on the web as to which BOH trails are doable stock (other than 16 being the hardest). As expected, weather and time can change a trail.
Will be there in a couple weeks, likely Tues 9/10. But...
Besides hitch, what non-stock skids did you find useful when running the 2" AEV? Which hitch skid do you have?
Is that with the stock-shock option? Be sure to install it fast once you start so that your before/after road test still has the stock ride in your memory for comparison ;)
I have it, works well. They basically seem to be a private label seller of many standard products from China. That inflator comes in many flavors and I went with All-Top as they had the best mix of price and warranty.
You can check out my post of the various brands that sell the same inflator...
Gotcha. Other than weight / performance, I would have thought 37s would make a better ride. More tire to roll over obstacles and pot holes. Did you regear that you're chirping off the line?
Now you're making me second guess the diesel, because it would be great with a 392. But you can still get...
How did you ruin the ride? Time and abuse, or 37s, heavier front end with winch/bumper, etc.?
You've got a lot of input already, but I'd go diesel for pure "is it really worth twice the price?"
At first it looks pretty badass, and then I start looking at the details... I don't know what is going on with the bumper and all the extra bars coming off it. Is that a bully bar, which extends on to the hood, just to hold a light bar? Dinosaur parks are pretty rough.
Hey fellow Metro-Detroiters, let's ride some time so we don't have to die from snake bites while going solo! Plus, I don't have a winch (yet), so it's good to have a savior.
@pbrevo64 , do you belong to any of the clubs? I should probably do that and find more opps to wheel.
Plastic arm, that's surprising, but you say it shakes less than Joytutus so must be pretty solid.
How about the angling up/down on that rotating part. Does that tighten with the two screws seen in the pictures? Just by friction tight, or are there notches of movement to lock into?
Went doorless for first time.
And installed door-off mirror
Review available here: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/doors-off-mirrors.82136/page-2#post-1341131
I installed driver side of the Joytutus mirrors today, in both positions, with pics for anyone interested.
Pros:
Big flat mirror, so perspective is not overly distorted. Actually has more visibility than the stock mirror. Not overly big like I had worried either.
Cool looking backside with the...
How does this one tighten? Looks like there's a knob which I'd think locks it's position (vertical, horizontal) as well as how close it is to the Jeep. How does it lock the rotating part, that allows angling up or down?
Is the entire thing metal?
If I don't try, I won't know how I'll like them, or other small/concave mirrors, so I might as well.
Adapter? I thought people were just screwing them in.
Nice to see some reviews on this one, because I didn't cancel my order in time, so I'll be trying them soon. 😁
Will see how solid or shaky, quick or obtrusive they are. I liked the variety of orientations possible, and big flat mirror. Hopefully not too big.
Anyone that does so, please let...
