That is a 1/2 ton truck. It is in a different league. That is like me saying a Ram 1500, should out tow a Ram 2500. Lets compare a Ram 1500 to a big rig too. Gladiator is not a full size truck.

It does get confusing but all truck makers do the same thing. You will find max tow for the others are never the 4x4 versions. (JT only is offered in 4x4) The highest I saw for the off road version on other manufacturers was 5000 lbs vs. the rubicons 7000 lbs.
