  1. Guys towing over 20 ft campers?

I don't have a diesel but I have an Overland with the 3.6L. I tow a Venture Sonic SN220VRB (Google it for floor plan) which is right around 5K Lbs with all we want or need. It's 27' LOA. I have a weight distribution hitch and electronic brake controller, no rear air bags.. My Overland handles...
  2. Hard Roof Top Hollow or Foam Construction?

I believe the back part is hollow. When I had my rear window leak, I could hear the water sloshing back and forth in the rear part, under the window. This is why I was able to convince my dealership to replace the entire roof because they couldn't get all the water out and if it froze in the...
  3. Gladiator Owner Poll

My first 4x4 was an '88 Toyota 4Runner. Then I had a '94 Chevy Silverado. I traded that for my first Jeep which was a '95 Cherokee Sport (XJ) which had some body issues that allowed the carpet to get wet over the winter and come warm/hot weather, it got and smelled sour. Next one was a '93...
  4. Anyone move from a fullsize pickup to a Gladiator and regret it?

I am currently the other way aroud. My Gladiator is in the shop awaiting a new wiring harness (coming after the strike is over, I'm sure) and my dealership gave me a '21 or '22 RAM 1500 to drive in the interim. I am missing that tighter turning radius and better fuel economy (I get around 20...
  5. Final update to Trailer/Truck Issues

Another update... Still waiting for the new wiring harness which will be on hold until the strike is over  :angry: But, in other news, my insurance (InsurAAAnce ? ) company sent me a check for the repairs...it's for everything except my $500 deductible. Total repairs to replace...
  6. We bought a camper! (Towing question/help please!!!)

I have the BlueOx WDH/sway control system for my set up...27' Vantage Sonic SN220VRB and Overland. Works great. No sway, even at 65 MPH and minimal to none when getting passed by a semi like I'm standing still.
  7. Final update to Trailer/Truck Issues

I'm outta warranty by time, not mileage (only 27,6xx miles on a '20 Overland ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19). So, this is outta pocket. My dealership suggested, because there was a fire involved, to see if my auto insurance would cover it...so far, there is a case open so, FINGERS CROSSED...
  8. Final update to Trailer/Truck Issues

I just got the final estimate to fix the issues with my wiring harness...which was fried leading to the flat-4/7-pin. They have to replace the ENTIRE wiring harness in my truck as well as the flat-4/7-pin connector itself. $4,417 and change ??? They're not sure when the harness will be in and...
  9. Trailer winter storage

I was thinking travel trailer...not just a cargo trailer ;)
  10. Trailer winter storage

Yeah, I'd put the 2x8s under the wheels. If nothing else, it'll keep them from sinking into the ground come the spring thaw. Also, put a piece of 2x4 under each corner jack, and something substantial under the tongue jack. Don't forget to run RV Antifreeze through all your lines. Kinda...
  11. Strike has begun

I need a new wiring harness so, I'm hoping this doesn't delay my dealership in getting it...it was ordered yesterday and my dealership was told it'd be there in a week...
  12. Update: Trailer/Truck Issues

That's a great idea to paint the TOP a bright color so there's no guessing :) :) :) Gonna happen as soon as I get the trailer home again. Note: Pending UAW strike could potentially delay my dealership getting in the new wiring harness :( I was told it would be in late next week but if they...
  13. Update: Trailer/Truck Issues

Nice note...the service manager at the Jeep Dealership suggested I call my insurance company to see if they'd cover this because there was a fire... AAA Insurance is going to cover all but my $500 deductible :) :):)
  14. Update: Trailer/Truck Issues

Well, just talked with the dealership and was told that they (in conversation with the trailer dealership...actually went there to talk to them and test my trailer too) concluded that I must've put the 7 pin plug in upside down causing the right turn signal to blink when the left one on the...
  15. MORE Trailer/Truck issues...post dealer visit...(see last post by me starting the same)

@ShadowsPapa I'll buy the 'rodent' issue but, they went over everything on the trailer when I had it in for inspection, after I told them about the issue of the running lights coming on when plugged in to the truck and everything turned off, on the truck, and just the one side of the brakes...
  16. MORE Trailer/Truck issues...post dealer visit...(see last post by me starting the same)

Bump... The dealership now has my Gladiator. They gave me a RAM 1500 for a loaner whilst they work on the Jeep. Anyone with an electrical background have any clues that I might be able to impart to the dealership to aid in their search for the issue? @ShadowsPapa seems to be an electrical...
  17. MORE Trailer/Truck issues...post dealer visit...(see last post by me starting the same)

The trailer battery is working just fine as it's still got the juice to raise and lower the tongue jack. Yeah, I am going to pitch a fit that the dealership (Jeep one) only did the tester thingy...plug in a simulator and see what's going on but NEVER looked underneath at the wiring itself...
  18. MORE Trailer/Truck issues...post dealer visit...(see last post by me starting the same)

The trailer wiring harness is factory. I am not an electrician so that's outta my skill set. The factory harness and plugs were tested by the dealership (both the flat 4, which is for utility trailers and the 7 pin for travel trailers with electronic brakes) and tested fine...at least there...
  19. MORE Trailer/Truck issues...post dealer visit...(see last post by me starting the same)

So, I went to the dealership to get my 7 pin connector checked out because the trailer dealership thought that the issue was potentially with one of the truck control modules. Well the Jeep dealership tested everything, both the flat 4 and the 7 pin connector and didn't find anything wrong even...
  20. Travel trailer recommendations

I have a Vantage Sonic SN220VRB. Mine is 27' long 5,100 lbs with all we want or need and a stated 420 LB tongue weight but mine is closer to 520 lbs with all the stuff in the front pass through. You have a MaxTow so it'd easily handle it. I tow mine with an Overland. Lotsa room inside. Feels...
