Oh wait. I've missed understood the question, sorry. The spare wheel won't be ideal for that tire but will certainly do as an emergency means to get somewhere. As far as mounting a new wheel in the spare slot. I'd imagine the assembly would scrape the wheel itself if you're worried about that.
I was going too. But haven't done it. But my auto mode acts like yours even without the TSB. I think auto mode genuinely just sucks. The algorithm the electronics use is just way off. Sounds like I should stay away from the TSB after your experience though.
