I am going back to my hard top. The soft top is nice but I am tired of trying to figure out it's issues. It has zero leaks and appears to have a good fitment. It vibrates at 80 mph and I can't figure out why. Someone smarter than me (or that drives slower) will love it. Selling cheap...
I'm about to give up and see if someone else wants to take it off my hands to troubleshoot it. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement door surround for just the rear passenger side? That may be my issue as it has a little damage. It doesn't appear to be impacting it at all as it feels...
Mine does this constantly and it drives me nuts. I've taken it to the local dealer and they are so lazy that they just tell me they can't replicate it, so they do nothing. I took some videos from my phone the last few times and they still wouldn't do anything.
I'll be checking my fuses tomorrow...
I already have the hard top off and stored. Basically, the scaffold will roll as far up the bed as you would like. It is about 4 inches wider than the JT. I just pick up the top and turn around to set it down. The top is light enough to lift yourself. I just knew that if I had to jump down from...
I take it off with one of these. It rolls up over the bed, I stand in the bed of the truck and pick it up, spin around and set it on the scaffolding. Works so well I haven't bothered with a hoist...
Well, I am back to having the vibration. It is very strange how it comes and goes. It seems to have to do with the amount of direct wind that hits the front of the Jeep. I can run up to about 80 mph without a vibration when there is no wind, but it starts around 65 mph when there is a head wind...
Two torx bolts on the latch. You can loosen them and move them retighten. It didn't help me. The piece attached to the header adjusts too but if the spring in the latch is worn out it won't matter.
Okay, I got the new latch in the mail yesterday afternoon and replaced it. That fixed the issue with it popping open. It appears to have helped the vibration also. I ran it pretty fast on the highway and it didn't make the vibration noise until 80 mph or so. I guess the latch was letting in...
Interesting, I hadn't thought about that point of attachment and how it might impact the tension. I'll mess with it tomorrow and see if it helps. Should I assume that pushing it backwards would make it tighter?
It definitely isn't normal soft top noise. I've owned Jeeps (and a 74 Bronco) with soft tops for decades. It seems like the fabric is just loose or something. Is there any type of adjustment that can be done?
I bought a used soft top off another Gladiator and I am having a hard time with it. First, the passenger side latch just doesn't seem to catch correctly. It feels like the spring may be warm out as it just doesn't click into place as firmly as the driver side. It has flung open at highway...
Someone probably needs it more than me but I'll grab it if you don't hear from someone else. I backed into something a couple months ago like a bonehead. Most people wouldn't even notice but it drives me nuts.
Want to give it a week and see if someone else needs it more then let me know?
