2 things to help: 1) My dad made his own kill switch on my mom’s old Wrangler (YJ) and used a hardtop defroster button to be the switch. She didn’t have a hard top, so he bought it and hid it in plain sight. Back then kill switches were popular, so not having some random toggle switch was good...
Out of curiosity for price, I went on the Jeep builder to spec a bikini 4xe to lease (with intention to buy out after taking advantage of tax credit). To my disappointment and surprise, it does not allow the selection of half doors with bikini pearl— it removes it. Also, the half doors aren’t...
Yes, but it should involve more than skinnies on steelies with half doors. They could’ve at least added a sloping transom. Use painted bondo and mesh wire, even (“sell the sizzle, not the steak”). This was just a wrangler 4-door.
Parking brake only does one set of wheels; brake pedal does all four. In a manual, use what you’ve got, but you’d be better with a foot on gas and brake (but do use p-brake while outside the vehicle).
update: jeep’s apparently are a bit different:
I use and recommend a wheel chock under the...
I'm not going to argue opinions on aesthetics, but my point, to answer your question, is as stated-- that I would never own a car with a fake hood scoop.
Mojave has a fake hood scoop. I wouldn’t own one for that reason alone. That said, don’t forget to look at your decision from the other perspective (fear & greed): fear. What would you be giving up from the Overland that you wouldn’t get on the Mojave?
That’s how I viewed it: I bought my last wrangler after selling a motorcycle. This was pricier but four seasons, bring a friend, and better protection. But now I have kids and there’s nothing back there for the used ones, and electric cars are heavyyyyy . Imagine getting boned by a Rivian or...
Cause it’d be shit, right? Wonder if the 2024 will have one with the airbags. And why does jeep get to not list one— shouldn’t there be one anyways so we can see as consumers?
(Is anyone aware of crash test data for no doors on? Got me thinking…)
With my wrangler in New England it sometimes would get freezing on the ride back at night, even with heat cranked, which was a deterrent for taking it off so I’d leave wind pants & a windbreaker in it. 80 daytime, 55...
I have “not-yet-buyer’s remorse”. While I’ve owned 3 Jeeps (and a 88 Bronco, a Pontiac GTP, and others), I’ve been without one for 8.5 years, driving a 2010 Subaru Outback with CVT moped transmission. This car is, by a gap so big you can’t compare them, the most reliable car I’ve ever driven...
Google search shows a mock-up of bikini when you search for the 2024 gladiator, in its fast results thing. Here it is compared to hydro blue. They both look more green than in real life, if you’ve seen either on the Wrangler. My wife said an extra $15k for rear air bags is worth it for a car...
I’m 40 and suspect anyone my age or older likes more silver leaning than black wheels. I lived through hub caps and the “ugly black wheels” you had beneath. I don’t like girls in skinny jeans either, ha.
Good call on the locker / limited slip.
Hard to get past the price either way, tho.
The real question here is diesel now in a color that’s not bikini pearl, or waiting for a 3.6 in bikini pearl (and paying more for it). I can’t calculate that.
