Looking forward to the pics!
I swung by the local linex installer yesterday and asked about the bed caps and they said they don't recommend taking them off if they're there for the exact reasons you describe. I guess I'll leave them on for now.
More info: I found this when perusing the 80/20 site. It's an aluminum composite sheet that can be used as a closeout panel. I am wondering if this is the same stuff that GFC uses for the floors of their camper. https://8020.net/65-2637.html
Water jetting some flat plate is a good idea. I don't have a metal brake, but that has given me the idea to make flat brackets to connect the extrusion at the angle that I want instead of using a pivot. Kind of like this https://8020.net/4110.html but at the 17deg angle that @bullett5897 suggested.
It is always tricky getting the right fit and nailing that balance between something that fits perfectly togehter with no slop, and something that becomes unable to be assembled once dirt and dust fills in the tight clearance.
I'll shoot you over my info. I'm in the super prelim stages, but I...
@bullitt5897 are the extrusion connectors custom designed or off the shelf pieces?
Also, as I was going to sleep last night I had the idea of a riser piece to turn a half rack into a full rack just by adding an assembly on top and securing it to the bottom one. One could have a half rack when...
Ha, I also got a Sting Gray Rubi this week and have been unimpressed with rack/topper options so far. I started designing one made of 80/20 in SolidWorks on Wednesday! You're a ways ahead of me, so I'll start taking notes.
I've used the material in industrial settings and I know it's super...
I'm with you there. IMO the best fitment is when the sidewall is perfectly even with the fender flair. Also, the OEM wheels are some of the lightest wheels out there for a reasonable price. Anything similar in weight I just haven't been able to stomach the cost.
Also agreed. 99% of the time...
Day 2 of ownership and I already have a bunch of scratches in the bed and on the tailgate just from sitting on it, putting a pair of MTB shoes in the back, and standing in the bed. Scheduling a linex appointment soon!
Do you have forward traction problems in the rain? That's about the only thing 4x4 will help with. Part time 4x4, like that in the JT/JL, will actually only hurt handling on a rainy day.
