  1. Gas mileage

My stock JT Sport S gets a reliable 19-20 mpg around town; my wife's stock 2017 JKU Sport S only gets about 16-17 around town. I figure the JKU would get better because it has 3.21 gears while the JT has 3.73 gears - maybe the JT has different gearing in the transmission?
  2. Someone's scoping my Gladiator

They're not on sale right now so they want $400 for the system: - here's the link
  3. Someone's scoping my Gladiator

We recently added this to our home - Costco had a system on sale: Lorex brand, with a 2TB DVR and 6 4K cameras for $300, down from $400. I've got the entire perimeter of the house covered with 5 cameras. The phone app allows me to monitor each camera live, and it records a 30 second video...
  4. exterior temp reading inaccurate

What was the last reported temperature when it was parked last night? It's possible it's reporting the last temperature it saw before the sensor was shut down.
  5. Steering Box TSB Fix - What Results?

Not an exaggeration at all - 60 mph is 1 mile per minute. I was able to let go of my steering wheel for OVER a minute at 65 mph on a straight, smooth section of freeway and it tracked straight the entire time.
  6. exterior temp reading inaccurate

We noticed the same thing back in October - but it wasn't a temperature-related cause. We were in 4LO all afternoon and noticed that the temp was reading about 53 degrees, when it was actually in the high 60s. We were told that the sensor is disabled when you shift to 4LO because when you're in...
  7. Need advice - Best "upgraded" tire size on stock Sport S rims?

Are these modules something that has to be installed into a specific vehicle, or are they something that can be used on more than one vehicle?
  8. Ugh! Need thoughts and information

I can't comment on the clunking, but most automatic transmissions are sequentially shifted - they need to hit each gear going up or down. They are not like a manual gearbox where you can skip gears - unless they are programmed for it.
  9. Steering Box TSB Fix - What Results?

I'm leaning toward not having it done right now - I'm able to take my hands off the wheel at 65 mph on the freeway, and have the truck track straight for over a mile. I don't feel any pulling, or drifting, or any other steering issues (yet) so I think I'm just going to let others who really need...
  10. Anyone planning on one of the 2021 Jeep Jamborees?

Like Brian, we had a ball at the Hollister Hills Academy back in October and looked at the Tillamook, Oregon, and Big Bear, California Jamborees. But we're concerned about travel restrictions, quarantines, etc. so we decided to put it off until 2022.
  11. Extension for 12 volt outlet wiring?

Is this kind of stuff required whenever somebody wants to add electrical stuff to their Gladiator, or is it just a way to get ignition-activated power? If you weren't concerned about the ignition-on requirement would wiring a fuse block directly to the battery give you always-on power safely, or...
  12. Gladiator Factory Parts - where do they come from?

Depending on the industry, China can be a real quagmire. I spent my working life in the semiconductor industry. At one point, about 15 or 20 years ago my company spent about 900 million dollars building a manufacturing plant in China. Within a year that plant was closed - mostly because of...
  13. MotorTrend 2021 Gladiator Review - Terrifying Towing?

But then that's the reason FCA would WANT to offer one - to keep you as a customer, rather than giving you up to GM...
  14. Military Members

I'll join in here - US Army Airborne Infantry 1971-73. MOS was 11C2P but I ended up being an M60 gunner because the mortar squads were full when I got to Ft Bragg. The hood on my Gladiator reflects my Regiment... I'm in the middle of a 4-generation family of veterans: my grandfather was in the...
  15. GMRS questions

Good point! Yeah, that's already budgeted!
  16. Sigh...auto stop start service message

I haven't bothered to look - it that battery a standard motorcycle battery, or is it some kind of proprietary thing that's only available from the dealer?
  17. Anyone remove the hitch when wheeling?

Several mentions of the hitch rattling while driving - if the receiver is rattling then you need to tighten the mounting bolts. If it's a hitch that is mounted to the receiver then certainly you can remove it while wheeling! And they make gadgets to tighten up that joint to prevent rattling.
  18. GMRS questions

So, I've been told to look for a decent, low-cost GMRS radio for our Jeeps. In wandering around the internet I found a Midland GTX1000 bundle that includes a Midland MicroMobile radio and 2 of their GTX1000 handheld walkie talkies. The Amazon price for this package is $150, which fits our budget...
  19. Took jeep in for steering problem and now they are rebuilding the motor

Yeah - we bought a 2001 Ford Escape brand new. About a month later it developed a noise that sounded like valve noise so we took it to the dealer. We got a call later that day that they will be replacing the engine, and Ford directed them to pull our engine and crate it up without removing any...
  20. Two identical JT Sports have different fenders.

Why not obtain the build sheet based on the VIN? That will show exactly what was installed as it made its way through the assembly line. If I recall I used this website to obtain mine: just add the VIN after the "=" ...
