You don't have to use the other stuff. Everything you need for an extension is right there. Just have to change location of a connector.

You don't want to use it, that's fine. But it's a simple, 30 minute job for just about anyone else that is reading this to use. No need to source anything but the correct length of wire for the blue wire that is a short jumper in original configuration.

No offense, I know you are trying to help...... but, well, I know - I wire cars and build wiring harnesses for other people to restore classic cars.
IF I had the connectors we'd be talking 10 minutes tops. (strip wires, western union type joint, solder, heat shrink, good to go)
It likely has long enough wires I could harvest and not get into my tubs of auto wiring harnesses.

I custom made all of the engine bay wiring here - (it's what I do ;) ) including converting the headlight to run on relays.

Is this kind of stuff required whenever somebody wants to add electrical stuff to their Gladiator, or is it just a way to get ignition-activated power? If you weren't concerned about the ignition-on requirement would wiring a fuse block directly to the battery give you always-on power safely, or would it mess up the Canbus system?

For ME - it was convenience and the ability to power that lit wreath via a switched source. Originally I was going to cut the end off the cord, put on battery clips, and add an in-line switch to the cord and clip it to battery terminals and have a switch by the grill I could use. But then I thought - if I can in less than 30 minutes get access to that connector and put a 12v outlet back onto it and run the cord into the cabin - and it hit me - yeah, I can, and that way no needing to remember to turn it on or off. It would be automatic.
If I wanted pure raw battery power, I'd add a terminal block near the battery, run wires either using fuses, breakers or fusible link wire from the battery to the terminal block and use that. But I have nothing that I'd want at THIS time that would need or where I'd desire unswitched battery power.
There's no reason wiring to the battery terminals would mess up anything - I mean - look at winches.........

The aux switch option is of course a very clean way to go - and the FACTORY-installed version gives you a couple of leads (or is it just 1?) for unswitched battery power (the dealer-installed or owner-installed versions don't give that same set of leads)

For MY purpose, the 12v outlet being extended so I can make a hole and move the outlet to someplace in my dash is a very good solution for this - and even for times I may want my Garmin in the truck, or some other option like my emergency trouble-light or something else. Otherwise, I'd strongly consider the aux switches.

Here's what I did. I used the quadratec cable to feed a switched usb power port mounted above the dash in my Rugged Ridge phone mount. I also tapped into the power wires for the possible future addition of USB power ports for the back seat of my sport. If I was going to do it over, I would skip the quadratec cable and just tap into the power wires for both the above dash and back seat USB ports.

But again, my point was PURELY wanting to extend the cable that runs to the 12 volt outlet - so I could move the outlet and re-install it. Don't need the other stuff.
So if I could buy the ends, I would, but I'll likely end up buying that cable so I can get the ends and make an extension for the 12 volt outlet.
So if you want to get rid of those connectors/ends - LOL
My goal is ONLY to move and reinstall the outlet.

Bought the cable on Amazon - free shipping so saved a couple of bucks or so.
I did end up leaving the "tap" they had, but did what I needed by extending a couple of the wires and wrapped it up again. So now I have an extension, unlikely I'd ever use the tap they put in but no biggy, it will just be tucked away back there.
Now I can move that 12 volt outlet to where-ever it will fit or work and use this as the extension to get it there.

Thanks, but not my idea as you can see above. It eliminates a lot of the wiring clutter and wires going across the radio.
If I was Rugged Ridge I would add the hole to allow this mod or sell it themselves already configured with a choice of a 12v receptacle or two usb ports.

For my specific need I was after a 12v outlet that stays hot while ignition off to power my blue ox supplemental brake when being towed.
I used the aux switched and pigtail under glove box and added another outlet. Was going to dash mount but hate drilling dash so I just made it on a pigtail that I keep in dash until needed. Turning on or off with aux switch.
