I going to disagree with this. Have you ever gone over a rock, landed on your frame and then had to back up to place your rig in a different spot for the next obstacle? That has happened to me more than once now and what has stopped me from being able to back up enough to reposition a tire is...
Good to hear how much you like the triangulated rear on the road, it's still where my JT spends most of its time. I really think smoothing out the side to side motion will help immensely on those long bumpy trail days too.
There are quite a few brands offering a long arm, only 2 (RK and Rustys) that I'm aware of, triangulate the rear control arms.
I'm specifically picking metal cloak for the front long arms because I already have all 8 of their mid arms. I'd only have to swap the fronts and I'd leave the rest of...
Appreciate the feedback. Are you daily driving your rig/ever tow with it? Do you have the Adventure series joints?
My gut is pointing me to a total suspension gut and go 3" RK Silverback, but I like doing my research first. Thanks in advance
Are you running the triangulated upper kit on your rig?
I've been running the AEV lift with their brackets on 2 JTs for 4 years and have been very happy with how it performs, BUT this year I have gotten significantly stuck twice on the brackets. Once on Holy Cross that got pretty dicey and...
So I am getting to the point with my build that I'm tackling trails (Holy Cross CO, Kane Creek, Moab, etc.) that are pushing the limits of the AEV 2.5 lift. I'll admit that I have snagged myself on the drop brackets hard enough that I'm considering changing up my lift methodology. I love the...
Does a truck bed trump a 2.0 then? If the truck bed plays second fiddle to the drivetrian then it sounds like you want a JL with a 2.0.
I only have experience with the 3.6. I chose that over the appeal of a diesel because of its use in such a wide variety of vehicles. But I always knew I wanted...
this is more of a do I want a truck bed vs SUV question to me. The 3.6 is in every vehicle mopar offers...its pretty reliable and cheap/easy to work on. There will always be forums depicting a lemon.
My front axle needed more orange!
Finally got the budget in place to regear. After a lot of back and forth I decided on 5.38s. Very happy with the decision. Added Reid Racing knuckles while the front end was torn apart. The RCVs and RR knuckles add piece of mind while wheeling.
Exhaust 3.0....
The amazon bullet resonator ended up being too much drone/tinny. I did some more research and really liked the dynomax quiet crawler catback, but it is no longer made. Found the part number for the resonator and put that in place of the Amazon special. Got it tucked up a bit more...
I have a similar set-up running 38s but on an AEV 2.5" lift (with plenty of supporting mods). I didn't want to loose the flexibility of being able to push a rock against plastic fender so I've ruled out metal fenders for now. I gutted the stock liners and replaced them with paramount/rugged...
I got to check Holy Cross of my trail list during a recent trip to Colorado. It was a tough trail! Winched twice, tore my driveshaft boot, banged up the bumper (more), and smashed up the middle resonator on the exhaust hard enough to create an exhaust leak (again).
I've hit the resonator and...
True, tires are typically undersized compared to the sidewall spec, but to varying degrees. The BFG KO tire has been notoriously undersized compared to others (Nitto has a reputation of being closer to actual size).
I'm curious if BFG addressed that with the revamp of the KO3.
