  1. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Finished re-painting the AEV JK bumper, swapping the JT fog light harness and JT fog lights, and upgraded the fog light bulbs. Installed the bumper assembly and winch plate with all new hardware from AEV. Only very minor trimming required to install the winch mount. Will run the OEM...

  4. AEV Front Bumper Released For JT Gladiator!

Finished re-painting the AEV JK bumper, swapping the JT fog light harness and JT fog lights, and upgraded the fog light bulbs. Installed the bumper assembly and winch mount with all new hardware from AEV. Will run the OEM Gladiator Rubicon skid plate for now. The bumper hoop I ordered...
  5. AEV Front Bumper Released For JT Gladiator!

@jwilson2899 and @JRobes thanks for the input on the winch plate to frame rail bolts. Was thinking the frame rails would be heavy enough gauge and strong enough but good point that I don’t want to risk pulling them inwards... I’m also working on an AEV-inspired round tube bed rack at the...
  6. AEV Front Bumper Released For JT Gladiator!

Quick update on my used AEV JK Moab / Call of Duty bumper. (AEV’s Tubeless JK front bumper). Not fully installed yet as I sanded and painted the main bumper over the weekend and letting the paint cure for a few days. But the big update is the winch plate installation. It fits! Only requires...
  7. California Tyger bed cover

Would have to check but I just had an Access Literider bed cover shipped to me from Texas and that was $120…and you are farther away. The cover is $229 new on Amazon...
  8. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Haven’t repainted the AEV bumper yet or swapped lights (direct swap), etc. as I wanted to make sure the bumper fits and no major problems. Answer = yes! Comparison photos (plastic Rubi bumper first)... Front view: Installed my roller fairlead, but may swap to the flat one that came with...

  11. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

So as I’m working on the bed rack another Jeep project falls in my lap... Wanting an AEV Brute for years meant I HAD to have an AEV bumper on my Gladiator. That bumper was by far the most functional and best looking JK bumper IMHO. When I ordered my Gladiator, I left the base plastic bumper...
  12. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

For the bed rack, we ditched All Pro’s bed rack base for a 2” x 3” x 0.25” thick angle steel that I cut to my design. This will “lock” the rack into the Trail Rails and not allow any fore/aft shifting or rack movement as it was placed between the two curved areas on the Gladiator bed rail tops...
  13. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

After looking at all of the bed rack options available, I’m not happy with the designs from either a form or function standpoint. Don’t like the idea of a bolt together rack as it will work itself loose over time. And the bolt together racks all look like 2 sawhorses stacked on the bed rail...
  14. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Next trip was to Red Rock Canyon State Park. First camping trip post Covid-19 after a year of no camping. We passed thru Mojave to get to RRCSP. ^Just because it’s labeled as OHV Jeep Trail” it doesn’t necessarily mean you should attempt it. Lol! The pucker factor was high enough and...
  15. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Weekend trip to Lake Arrowhead. No camping this weekend as my wife refuses to go anywhere without running water and a bathroom (beach is only exception). LOL! Pilot Rock Truck Trail runs from Silverwood Lake to Lake Arrowhead. Fairly easy route with great views.
  16. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

If you’ve never been, Trona Pinnacles is an interesting location to see... So this would be our last trip with our 1947 Bantam T3-C trailer that I built up into an overland trailer. Feel like I’m about as long as a freight train towing it behind the Gladiator. Sold the trailer to fund...
  17. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Next trip was Joshua Tree for rock climbing and off-roading! ^was not fun stacking more stones so the Jeep would not drag its tail over the ledge ^not sure why, but they love eating on the tailgate...lol
  18. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

First big overnight trip...to Death Valley! Before jumping into mods, my point of view is to use the Jeep and figure out what we need to modify on it. Lesson learned on this trip is that unless you like everything coated in dust, you need a bed cover on the Gladiator. Ordered and...
  19. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Next stop was Lake Tahoe where we stayed overnight. Next day we paid a visit to the Rubicon Trail!
  20. '20 JT Rubicon overland build & evolution

Some great sights on the way home. On the way out of Boise we explored a few back roads around the Boise wine region (didn’t know Boise had wineries). How fitting that we find these two derelict Jeep trucks within the hour: More photo ops along the way home: And within 2 - 3 hours of...
