I finally got my OVS Nomaic 270 awning installed. Per a suggestion from OVS I bought some 1" thick HDPE (12"x12" block on Amazon) and cut it to fit the OVS mounting brackets. This elevated the brackets to fit on my Frontrunner Outfitters Slimline II rack that I have mounted on the SmartCap...
Mine took a full 8 months,, but I think it is safe to say that your wait is nearing and end. The longest wait I heard was about 9 months. Fingers crossed for you. Nice JT's!
@OneTraveler I expected lead times to shrink and more options on parts/accessories to become available early this year since the Texas facility was supposed to open. Haven't heard about it in awhile. Wonder if they had issues getting it launched or if it did open and they are still ramping...
Thanks. OVS responded that they recommend adding HDPE spacers on the top of the rails of the Frontrunner rack. That will allow for their mounts to attach up top rather than under the rack and thus should provide more clearance for the side doors.
Did you use the awning mounts to the top of your rack? I have a Frontrunner slimline rack and the mounts are designed to mount on the underside, but then I can't open the side door without hitting. What rack do you have?
To many buy jeeps and think that going out in the rain and mud is just the fun thing to do...then they try crossing fast flowing streams and rivers...and there you are. In reality that is a bad time to go out in most places. It tears up trails, leading to closures, and it gets dangerous on...
A couple years ago I bought a Racor Garage Ceiling Storage Rack Lift on Amazon primarily to lift my JLU roof off. Since it has a 250lb capacity it will lift the SmartCap by the roof rack (I installed a Frontrunner Slimline II) as well. Just another option for you to consider, there are several...
Funny, I was thinking that exact thing about the cost of Jeeps this last weekend driving home from a trail. I don't think I will ever be able to afford buying another new Jeep Wrangler or JT again in the future based on the way prices are going. Gotta make this JT last!
It was with the roof bolts, which have 2.5mm allen heads in the roof rail.
I didn't realize they were there while working on the smartcap upside down on the floor and the bolts just kept spinning on me. Only 2 would tighten beyond hand-tight. I was able to prop it up and tighten the bolts...
Finally got it mounted! Took a bit of finagling to get it lined up & to get enough spacer at the rear to ease the tailgate use. Still have to push/pull to open & close the back window but it is better after adding an additional spacers to the provided block at the tailgate. @SmartCap...
I have been thinking about using AirLift air bags rather than changing springs, haven't decided yet but your spring & bump stop setup sounds like a good option. Debating if the adjustability of the airbags is desirable or needed. I haven't lifted my Mojave, but the AEV Mojave lift could be in...
