  1. Survey- For those with misfire issues

For the CEL, it’s so rare and intermittent in my case, it’s hard to say there’s anything consistent or obvious. In the old days I’d say it was ignition related - a distributor cap, rotor and/or bad plug or plug wire. But again, the misfire is so rare I doubt itā€˜a something obvious. You might...
  2. Survey- For those with misfire issues

I’d be thrilled to see how you can see a failure of a single lifter through a scope pattern. You’re a lot better than I ever was. I am always willing to learn.
  3. Survey- For those with misfire issues

Good luck! Tell us all what you find out. It ain’t easy and I applaud your determination.
  4. Survey- For those with misfire issues

I grew up using an EPA75 and ā€œsun machineā€. They can indeed tell a lot about what’s going on. The problem is that with the current technology of engines and ECMs, everything happens very quickly. So fast you literally can’t see it on a scope. We can also thank the EPA for the fault codes...
  5. Survey- For those with misfire issues

Some relatively good news for a Friday evening - at least for me. I drove 750 miles today from BHM to south of SRQ. Mostly highway between 70 and 80mph. Fluid temps all ran between 195 and 205F. Oil pressure at speed was 31psi. No faults set even after refueling. Had a top speed of 90+ on...
  6. Survey- For those with misfire issues

Could very well be mechanical but it would be unusual being so intermittent. If it is mechanical I just hope for a catastrophic failure. If I hear rattling and clattering, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! I don't want the dealer doing exploratory surgery on my engine....
  7. Survey- For those with misfire issues

I'll let you know as I'll be on I75 this week for 1,500 miles. If I don't set the cruise at 75+ I'll get run over.
  8. Survey- For those with misfire issues

Yes, there was a lumpy idle just for an instant the one time it set the CEL. In all my cases, the faults are set at idle speed and usually as I head down my driveway or leaving a parking space. One the road at speed, no problems - yet....
  9. Survey- For those with misfire issues

Gladiator Overland; build date 09/19. Attached is a log of my Gladiator's ESS, CEL, and fault codes so far. There are no unusual engine noises, rough idle or bad mileage currently. I'm certainly no expert but it seems like a software issue in my case. I'm going to put a few thousand miles...
  10. Stock Jeep Support Group

Very happy with my Overland so far. I'm a "keep it original" guy and I'll only install OEM parts. I learned my lesson years ago with Wix filters on my 6.0 Ford Diesel. I installed a Mopar, folding bed cover negotiated into the deal and a Mopar hood deflector - in the false hope it will keep...
  11. Rock Crawler, Mall Crawler & ?

I guess I’m complaining about what makes the Gladiator so endearing to me. It is what it is and that’s why I bought it. Character, flaws and all. Thanks so much for the detailed recommendations. I’ll revisit these once I get 10,000 miles on it. Headed down to Florida this week so I’ll have...
  12. Rock Crawler, Mall Crawler & ?

New to this forum so please forgive my rambling. Yes, I may be a ā€œmall crawlerā€ or worse. I recently traded my beloved but tired 2004 F250 6.0 Crew Cab for a vehicle I’ve been wanting since the teasers were out from FCA a few years back – a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Overland. This Jeep is technically...
