I bought Gladiator 1 on 4/28/2020 I krunked on day two. Two months later dealership bought it back. I purchased another identical Overland and it krunked day one with 36 miles. They have had it ever since. My understanding is Jeep manufactured defective blocks at one plant. I think the defects stated showing up Aug 2019. Dealership said they are not sure if was improper piston ring assembly or defective cylinder walls.
So, almost 4 months after buying a Gladiator, you've only driven it 2 days? God I hope they have you in a really great loaner, and are offering something to ease the sting. Is the replacement motor new or remanufactured?

400 miles since last ESS and CEL—all w/ auto-stop/start turned off—and haven't had any (@!) or CEL since.

Really thinking this is a big-ol' bug with the auto-stop/start system.
That was my original thought, especially after datalogging the software in detail. But I am hearing more and more stories of top end noise and bad compression. So there may be something to the engine quality front. There is defined room for improvement in the software, to make the engine performance more robust to errors.

This is exactly why I'm afraid of even raising this issue on my JT with a dealership! I traded in 2 family cars for an off-road machine that can get our family across a beach. Some crossover loaner for 4 hot summer months just won't do.

I have been driving a renegade for a week and it's like a clown car to me. If the dealership had told me that they were going to have it more than just the weekend, I would be on the Harley all week but I was afraid they would call mid week and say " swap back to your truck".

On a happy note, my slush mats and license plate are now at the dealership so hopefully it's the last time I have to go there for a while. Their service dept is piss poor!

As others have mentioned, the widespread nature of the symptoms (w/ the only common denominator being the AS/S and CEL) makes me think there are so many degrees of... I don't know... morbidity?

Like, I've only experienced the AS/S and CEL issue and 1 misfire. No clanking, no hard idling, no low oil pressure, no bad MPG.

Gladiator Overland; build date 09/19. Attached is a log of my Gladiator's ESS, CEL, and fault codes so far. There are no unusual engine noises, rough idle or bad mileage currently.

I'm certainly no expert but it seems like a software issue in my case. I'm going to put a few thousand miles on it and see what happens before I waste time at the dealer as it appears there is no fix yet from FCA.

This log could have been from my JT, lol. Did you feel a misfire when the cel registered?

Yes, there was a lumpy idle just for an instant the one time it set the CEL. In all my cases, the faults are set at idle speed and usually as I head down my driveway or leaving a parking space. One the road at speed, no problems - yet....

I see the symptoms in a datalog when the cruise is set at 70 or above on hills or with wind. Has anyone done this?

I'll let you know as I'll be on I75 this week for 1,500 miles. If I don't set the cruise at 75+ I'll get run over.

That could be my datalog as well. I dont think it is the computer though.
I think a mechanical issue is causing the sensors to pick up a problem

Could very well be mechanical but it would be unusual being so intermittent. If it is mechanical I just hope for a catastrophic failure. If I hear rattling and clattering, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead! I don't want the dealer doing exploratory surgery on my engine....

Oof, that's awful small. I really dislike the Charger I'm in, but at least it isn't a clown car.
