I'd like the interior light to come on when I turn the truck off without having to open the door. Like in almost every vehicle out there.

I went through this quandary myself and decided on some M8x1.25 knurled thumb nuts to connect the winch positive cable to the battery when I needed to use it. Dirt cheap, takes a minute to open the hood to connect/disconnect and no worries about a short in an accident.

My issue is with it disconnecting. Occasionally it will freeze for a few moments and then disconnect. I've tried several cables (Apple and aftermarket) and it doesn't make a difference. The dash port seems more reliable than the console port. There isn't a consistent pattern to it. Sometimes...
