I’ll add that I bought all 4 of my fox rubicon shocks for $240 shipped on eBay. I don’t think I’d spend much more than that for the swap, but well worth it for ~$60 each. It’s extremely easy to change these shocks yourself in your driveway- maybe 45 minutes for all 4 with tire removal and reinstall.
How many of you use a diesel additive for lubricity/cetane booster? From what I’ve read, US spec ULSD is below the recommended Bosch levels for the HP4 pump. Motorcraft (Ford) sells a cetane booster for their powerstrokes, but I don’t see anything from Mopar. Thoughts?
I have a sport S and just added rubicon take off shocks. I mainly did it because I added a leveling kit (just front coil isolators) and didn't want to use shock extensions. You can feel a difference- they have a stiffer ride, but not uncomfortable. I still have the factory springs. IMO the jeep...
Seems like good pricing for the current market, just be careful with destination charges at Koons. I live right down the street from them and have bought two brand new jeeps from them. Both times they show me the discount off of MSRP, which already includes destination, and then they add...
High wind was actually the number one reason I bought this tent. Wind noise while in the tent is minimal. Since the Maggiolina cranks up with a worn gear, you can get the fabric nice and taught so there's no flapping. Its like sleeping on a sailboat in high winds (read:60+ mph) because of how...
I'll start by saying I've put 15k miles on my ecodiesel in the last 6 months, from Maine to the Keys and everywhere in-between. Long time jeeper, last rig was a 3.6. I love the 3.6, but its simply underpowered for a heavy rig. Even a stock JT rubicon has to double or triple downshift to pass...
Here are two setups I've used. The first is Yakima Overhaul HD, the second alucab explorer canopy. I really liked the overhaul because it gave me precise height adjustments (kept tent within an inch of the top), but wanted more bed security for long haul trips. I recommend either of them.
I have a diesel, stock suspension sport s gladiator for long trips and a 6mt lifted LJ for around town. To me, the TJ/LJ is nearly the perfect second vehicle. Bonus is that I can flat tow the LJ with the JT and, in the event of an emergency breakdown, I could reverse the setup to limp the JT to...
I had an ARE (2019 build date) on my 2016 f150 and it leaked everywhere and had issues with the door struts ripping out of the fiberglass at the mounts. Took a gamble on the alucab topper for my JT and it’s MUCH better built. Definitely not perfect, but I’d give it a solid 9/10. ARE I’d give a...
Don’t buy a modern diesel for financial economics. Buy it because it’s more fun to drive, has a longer range, and tows better. Yes, the gas can technically tow more, but that engine works 4x harder to tow at 6k than the diesel does. If you need to regularly tow above 4-5k lbs, a midsized truck...
Happy to hear somebody else is getting the same Mileage as I have. My since-new average is closer to 26 but sustaining 30mpg over the course of a tank is not absurd with these, given the right conditions.
I know- most people don’t believe it when I tell them but it’s true. I live in the mid Atlantic at sea level and we have quite a few long flat roads. I wouldn’t say to expect 30mpg, but if you have long, flat 55mph roads, it’s pretty common with a sport. That being said, I didn’t buy it for MPG...
I’ll also chime in. Bought my 21 sport s diesel new in June, have about 11k on it now. Stock suspension, but added airlift helper bags for my alucab cap and hardshell RTT. I’ve been extremely happy with it. Only issue has been a rear axle shaft seal leak, but that’s not exclusive to the diesel...
I get a computer output (hand calculated verification) of 32mpg average for mine with my RTT on top and about 400 lbs of gear in it… but my engine makes a real clackity clack noise all the time
To the original concern about the light colored leather interior being available- keep in mind that you can always have a katskinz full leather installed (usually about the same price as the leather upgrade at order). High quality leather and tons of color options. I’m not a fan of how light the...
There are a lot of opinions here, but I would encourage any diesel prospects to consider the opinions of the people who actually own the diesel rigs. Forums are a very vocal place. If people have issues, they'll sure say so. The most useless advice usually comes from somebody who has an opinion...
I have a diesel sport s and I love it. Last wrangler was a 3.6 JK. Good motor, but I feel that it’s underpowered in the gladiator. Absolutely love my diesel. I do a lot of travel, sometimes thousands of miles at a time. I have a hard shell rooftop tent above the bed and average 29mpg. This means...
