  1. How to get my doors off

I have been taking the doors off my TJ for years, but im.getting older and the doors are heavier. Anybody use an overhead hoist to lift the doors off the JT?
  2. 🤦‍♂️ Can someone help me find this part before I just light the rest of the soft top on fire

It’s been a…day. Recently got a soft top from someone and finally got a Lange hoist so I could get my hard top off. Installing that went like shit and then I installed the stupid foam supports backwards of course. My tent was in the way, my j-top mesh screen was in the way. I fought the shit out...
  3. Georgia Jeep JL J-Barr Hardtop Hoist Removal System

$150+shipping or local pickup Leftover parts since I no longer have the JL. This is not a complete set as it’s missing the main bar in the photo (yellow outline). However, you can easily use square tubing and attach an eye bolt in the center to substitute. The main bar can be sold separately...
  4. RudeJeepin's JTRD Journey

...I ended up gaining just over the 1/2" lift they claimed. The rear socks are now long enough that the rear spring will unseat when put on a hoist. So I added the Teraflex Rear Upper/Lower Coil Spring Retainer Kit, 4954000. Went in super easy and locks the coils in. Next up was the Clayton Off...

/The Monkees begin singing "I'm a believer" 🐵 The weather finally turned for the better, so I felt it was time to give the hoist a try. The wife was at work, so I had to do this solo. Ran into a couple niggles, nothing that turned into a show stopper. For example, my driveway is enough of a...
  6. Sunrider owners - MY mess-up, or theirs?

...combined with the prices they charge, make them a complete non-starter for me. FWIW, I also have their JT/JL door cart and JT specific hard top hoist and they are good quality products for the price. I agree with you on this. People shouldn't allow companies to get away with offering low...
  7. Fraser 3.6 Reman Swap

Why would you need to hold it to the floor upon starting ? It only takes 3.5seconds for only to go up.
  8. Fraser 3.6 Reman Swap

...on the rear on the heads. I removed the engine mounts from the frame and loosely attached them to the block. Definitely use an adjustable hoist mount start with the rear angled all the way down. I used a floor jack and block of wood to raise the transmission as high as I could. My plan for...
  9. 5.3 wiring

Can't say I blame you. I would likely do the same thing if my Mojave eats it's cams. Wouldn't be a Toyota though. They're not what they used to be.
  10. 5.3 wiring

Hasn't Toyota had multiple recalls with their new hybrid truck engines, many of which involved full engine replacement? Not sure I'd trust a new Toyota any more than the Jeep.

  12. 5.3 wiring

Depending on the emissions area, you may not be able to engine swap period. I know CA makes it nearly impossible. Basically the engine has to come from a same model year or newer, same manufacturer, and the emissions all have to be functional.
  13. 5.3 wiring

I hope you find an affordable solution when the time comes. The $30k swaps from amw or bruiser are likely the way I'll go if/ when the 3.6L dies. Expensive, but far cheaper than a new truck at that point. New drivetrain, installed, with a warranty, and double the power? Starts making the $30k...

  15. EZ4X4 Gladiator Hard Top Lift now available

That's pretty much what I thought, thanks.
  16. EZ4X4 Gladiator Hard Top Lift now available

...lift that could raise the top straight up above the roofline. At best, I think you could unclamp the top and slide it back on the rails a foot or so. The hoist only lifts the top a few inches, then you need to swing the whole thing around so the rear pillar on the far side clears the rollbars.
  17. Hard Top lift review

...it's IN! Had a warm day and a little motivation, so I popped the top off. Took about 15 minutes, total only a couple minutes to hook up the hoist. Pro tip for those with more beauty than brains (like me) if you push on the ends of the pins for the rain gutter clamps, the little locking ball...
  18. Hard Top lift review

Awesome! I hope you enjoy your lift, thanks for sharing!
  19. Hard Top lift review

@loganjeeps if you've got 4ft of extra length in the garage, I'd say you're golden, even if the hoist won't fit between the front tires (which I think it will) The overall length isn't much more than the length of the hardtop.
  20. Hard Top lift review

...a kinda weird ceiling, the end with the door is lower than the end at the house. Which is part of the reason I opted against getting a ceiling hoist. BUT with the garage door open, I can't entirely unfold the EZ4x4 lift, I have to roll it out into the driveway (ran into this putting it...
