Those sliders look great - tucked up there nicely.
Looks like they stick out far enough to stop some of the spray and rocks from the tires that chip the door hinges, too.
Great install write-up!
That looks great tucked up there out of harm's way.
Black paint was they way to go...manifold (high heat) paint?
Any seat-of-the-pants difference?
35 lbs lost? That means you get to add more stuff in the bed - perfect!
I also wonder what is up with the red dash?
This Silver Zynith Rubicon on a lot in Texas also has the gray dash (looks like the Sport color?) - and it has cloth, not leather like the one above...
I really like the Overland 18" wheels, too.
My thought was to go with these.
E load rated, which isn't my first choice, but "only" 59 pounds and very good in the snow and ice.
Have run load C and E BFG A/T before on a Chevy Suburban (twice), on a TJ and JK and really liked them all.
Price isn't...

I really like the look of the Overland 18s with these 35s (285/75r18)...
It seems that most, if not all, 295/70r18s are "legal" on a 7.5" wide wheel, too.
That same online tire store shows 25 in that size.
Looks to be just over 34" in diameter...
Hope this helps - Steve
What about 285/75r18?
These are about 35" in diameter and 11.2" wide so they will work on the stock 18x7.5" wheel.
There is a thread I saw at one point (in the wheel and tire section, maybe?) that has a bunch of Overland owners on that size tire.
A quick search of an online tire company shows...
Hey Markpod7 and YYCSahara,
With the 18" Overland wheel, they will be an inch taller that the 285/75r17s.
So, yes, 35" diameter.
Took me a minute on that one, too....
The "weak link" was my thought as well with keeping the stock auto trans.
Any Ram that has the OEM 5.7 has the 8HP75, so it would make sense to include this with the swap.
But then the frugal, DIY side of me priced a crate 5.7 (no new trans) with the "swap kit" and a radiator and thought maybe...
Awesome plan, Mopar King. Looking forward to seeing the progress/finished product.
I love the driveability of the 5.7 (plenty of HP) and the 87 octane fuel requirement.
When you spoke to them about the 5.7, was there any talk of keeping the original auto trans?
I believe it is rated to 500...
More great info on the 3.0 regen process.
Don't think that will be a problem with my driving style/needs.
Appreciate the real-world input - super helpful!
Steve
Great info jwalt and WXman, thanks.
Just as I thought, I am looking too deep into it...
I would most likely add a gauge, too, just to keep tabs (and my OCD in check).
I like the idea of that additive to help with the soot.
Cheers!
Can anyone here weigh in on exactly how/when the 3.0 regenerates?
Figured someone may have real-world experience by now.
I have read (on this forum) that many short drives in a row can cause issues with not allowing the truck to complete its regen cycle.
If I do mainly surface street driving...
Northridge,
Those are some really inspiring photos!!!
I would definitely prefer a V8 to a forced induction 3.6.
I have 2 basic questions about Hemi swaps that don't seem to be answered on your web site.
Maybe some others are wondering the same things...
1) Will the 850RE from the 3.6 live...
Glad I could help.
Yep, the price is great for such a good tire - IMO.
This pic is my current spare (rotate every 5k-ish).
It has about 21,000 miles on it.
So far, so good on wear.
2 other quick thoughts on the C-load 315s...
I feel if I have a flat on some road trip, I will easily be able to find another exact tire for replacement since it is an OEM Ford Raptor tire = no money spent on a mismatched spare to get me home.
Rated at 2,535 pounds, it seems they will suit...
