Thought the same thing. Liked them more when they had reasonably priced prefab kits that are sent as flat packs for a dyi-ish job. Almost bought this bed plate since they're local to me but I decided to spend the money on tools. It ended up costing quite a bit more in tools and parts. But I...
started the process of redesign/organize the rear. I wanted to keep things simple and save weight where I can. Took most of the day making the bed floor plate from 3/4" birch. That took a lot longer than I thought trying to make cutouts for all the nooks and cranies. Ended up cutting out...
I find it kinda funny worrying about lipo4 charging below 30* F, at least for our purposes. Most people only use it for light and some usb charging with the main draw being the fridge. At 30* and below, my fridge draws nothing. My 100ah lipo4 can last at least a week, problably much more (h4...
Nice setup! I run a national luna dual battery kit in my 4runner. That was before Lifepo4 and the dual agms was to power a fridge. Deep cycle agms don't last very long without charging. It did save my butt a handful of times though. With the Gladiator, I run a house lifepo4 in the back and...
I really like the combination of Terra acoustics in the dash and just stuffing the sound bar. I'd say it's significant enough of a difference for me to not go further. I'd upgrade the knee pods before the speaker bar though. It would be weird to most of the sound shift behind and above my head.
21' Rubicon, about 45k miles, 3 years on 37s and had valve seal leak, needed 2 O2 sensors and a fuel injector replaced last month. Had 5.13s put on last year. I'd say moderate offroading and camping about once a month. Every now and then I let loose but mostly pretty controlled offroading...
Still sitting in the back of the truck in it's box. The thing is a beast. It's heavier than I thought. I'm still trying to figure out how to mount it. I know they sell mounts for them. But I hate the idea of spending $200 to mount a $300 item. "Overland" tax on mounting hardware is rediculous.
Wrote out a detail post about my transition but it dissappeared. So here's some photos instead.
Rack large tent for family family of 4.
Added canopy for dirt/rain and thief protection.
Smaller tent for the canopy/solo trip and offroad trailer with larger tent for the family trips...
Great setup! How do those pop up style tent hold up in higher wind? I have a wedge style, that does great in high wind. But I'm finding myself wanting a little more space.
4.10 was very usable around town and even on the highway if you don't mind higher rpms, which I didn't. But when you hit the mountains, you definitely want more gear, which was still livable until I picked up a lightweight camping trailer (2k lbs). That was a no go for me and had to regear to...
"And note that Gladiator does not get the Wrangler's full-floating Dana 44 axle, mainly because its five-link coil-sprung rear axle already surpassed Wrangler's towing capacity without it." They're talking about the most current 2024 in this article...
Lifted and 37s a 4 days after delivery. I'm at around 45k miles. Drive train has been fine with moderate offroading, lots off trail camping and daily driving. I'm on my second set of falcon shocks (not including the original fox). But I do run heavy with a full rack/rtt early on and now an...
