Looks like Z automotive makes a repair that fixes it without pulling the cover. Just a plug and it's done wiring change at the diff.
I skipped the warranty and ran the z automotive bypass for the last 15 months or so. No problem so far.

The only problem I see with this is that stellantis isn't seeing whats breaking if you do it yourself when it's still under warranty. If Jeeps are already considered unreliable this just exacerbates that problem.

I did the Z thing at 92 miles in 2020 now at 57,000 and never had an issue . All the dash lights work when engaging the locker and locker works fine. The sensor does nothing other then to confirm to computer that it shifted. Problem is if you let it go and wait too long, the Jeep will have a locker code and locker will be disabled. In 2020 Jeep was swapping out the whole rear axle as there was a shortage of sensors, my dealer and I both thought that was nuts , he checked out the Z thing and he said if you want to change the sensor later we will do it under warranty, but in the back of my head I keep thinking , it works fine , I can feel the locker working , dash lights all work ,without potting it ,will it fail again as others have and perhaps I lose my locker. Others have said carry a spare if it fails , but why if it really has not bothered me for five years and can be considered more reliable?….Jack

On the practical side, I didn't want to continue with a flawed design. Why not just eliminate the failure point altogether. Im sure it'll fail again since the fix isn't a change in design.

If I take mine in for warranty they will just red flag me. I am going to install the Tazre fix and be done with it.

if you pot the (new) sensor it won’t fail anymore.
