Hi all, installed a Clayton Overland 2.5 lift on my JTR over the weekend. Gained about 3.5 inches of lift all around. Took it for an alignment today and the tech said my pinion angle is about 5 degrees. Suggested getting a spacer for the carrier bearing instead of adjusting at the arms. Is that best practice? If so, what thickness would I need?

I have the same lift but replaced the rear springs with Dobinson extra heavy duty 3" springs. I've ran it for a while before installing the spacer from Rockjock. Don't think it makes much of a difference other than peace of mind. Doesn't look too bad after it settles. But I figured it's inexpensive and easy install.

Yup. Did the rockjock spacer. Works good and simple. Although, added a few steps that was omitted from rockjock.
Put a few coats of 2x rustolium black paint to the spacer for corrosion protection. Added a flat washer to the bolts because it only comes with a split washer. And I used the OEM torque value of 45 ft lbs.

I used this with JTR Clayton 2.5" lift. Very easy to install if you have three hands, a little more difficult chasing the first bolt hole with 2 hands. Be sure you set the pinion angle correctly. The pinion angle on a two piece drive is set up differently than on a one piece drive shaft.

Rockjock spacer is billet aluminum.

Same lift here on my JTR. Did the Rockjock spacer after the fact. All good.

Yea….. It is very well machined aluminum. But didn’t seem to be anodized or have any other surface protections. Just my OCD self.

Took my Jeep to a friend who builds race cars and he measured the pinion at 1.8 up and the driveshaft at 7-8 down (don’t remember the exact number). He recommended a spacer to overcome the difference. Thanks everyone, I’ll look at the Rockjock.
