just quick annual update on the swap JT. took the decals off but the cap is still on and everything going strong in what is now the fourth year I think post swap? Or three maybe ? I don’t remember lol but no upgrades planned for this year and mostly retired from wheeling. also axles and...
I have the 2y old Kit and while I don’t have issues with the LEDs I do notice a considerable amount of rust on the bracket. that been addressed by these new ones ?
pretty sure their prices include the credit. at least that was the case when I got my quote. prices aside on those skinny tires the 392 will be more than plenty of power. the weak link for all conversion will be your range. axles 40s and a V8 will bring you below 10MPGs. just keep that in mind.
it’s not 100% same functionality as you loose the off road cruise control function or whatever it was called and the thing where you can set a speed. that last one was handy on super steep stuff but you make do without that. it’s been so long I forgot what it’s called
I would say if you upgrade the shafts,, stick to 4.10s and don’t go above 38s the stock axles are bullet proof with even hard abuse on the trails for the 6.4L been doing that for 2 years now.
you do need a lift though to fit the engine. also HEMI tuned suspension is a bit of marketing speak.
Have not done more work on it. With my 38s and 4.10s it's manageable. I do make sure to stay out of 1600-2000 rpms when cruising on the interstate which is 65-75 range. Does not seem to impact MPGs not using 8 or 7 there. Ideally you would regear so you don't cruise in 1600-2000 rpm range
if you want to carry bike in bed you just need a tailgate pad? it you do on cross bars there's many options and then the hitch. I did tail gate pad (takes up all bed space) cross bar mount with 1Up (was great) to now hitch as I have an ARE topper (also easier to load since not as high)
I was not interested in a cap until I saw the CX EVOLVE on a gladiator in Florida that was also put together pretty well. I thought it looked really good and my rack died by rust so needed something. With the bed not being super large to carry stuff when we go for weekend trips especially when...
Caps on!!! Love it! Best upgrade ever maybe. drastically increases functionality for me but prob retires me from some of the more extreme wheeling adventures - which is fine at this stage - can break only so much….
No clue about the terraflex ones tbh. Do they have a six piston kit? It was between Wilwood and Bear for me and Bear has the one that fits JT 17 inch rims.
so truck needed some new brakes and I always liked the bite of the willwood 6 piston kits. But since they don't fit on 17 inch rims I gave BEAR a try. So far so great. Brakes feel great and complement the look in a subtle way. Does this improve stopping distance idk but it definitely improves...
In my experience every inch in tire increase cost me 1MPG going from 35s to 37s to now 38s. With the 38x13.5x17 I have now i am getting 13.5 in the city and 17-20 on the Interstate depending on speed. This still yields a good enough range for me. going 50 on a flat road you even get 25 mpgs but...
as someone driving a swapped 6.4L JT for 2.5 years now I will just add that dated or not it’s a great fit for the truck and plenty of power with very easy serviceability and good MPGs (that really depends on your tire size). I’d just go with whatever your local shop offers
