In my experience every inch in tire increase cost me 1MPG going from 35s to 37s to now 38s. With the 38x13.5x17 I have now i am getting 13.5 in the city and 17-20 on the Interstate depending on speed. This still yields a good enough range for me. going 50 on a flat road you even get 25 mpgs but...
as someone driving a swapped 6.4L JT for 2.5 years now I will just add that dated or not it’s a great fit for the truck and plenty of power with very easy serviceability and good MPGs (that really depends on your tire size). I’d just go with whatever your local shop offers
prob best do install a quality 3-4inch lift and get proper 17x9 inch wheels and 37s and the ride quality will be night and day OR go up to 42 inch tires to make sense of a 6 inch lift
Sounds like your heart wants it but your head is not in it yet ;). There is no substitute for a V8 JT. Anything else is different. I wheeled mine pretty hard in the woods of Maine and modestly in NH, MA for the past 3 years on stock axles and past 2 were with the HEMI. if you keep your gearing...
What did you change ? Hadn’t much issues with mine. It seems to spit out some coolant from time to time but can’t find a leak and levels look ok but still dripping a little sometimes. Still very much enjoying it but looking for ways to get the exhaust note a little quieter in the cabin without...
The 2-inch lift was a great upgrade over the stock RUBICON suspension especially on pavement riding and it’s true bolt on up to 37s with stock fenders. The shocks are still too bouncy though for rock crawling. While I’d say the Rockkrawler 3.5inch lift I have now with FOX performance reservoir...
should have kept the JT ;) but I was curious when we would start to loose some of the early adopter enthusiasts. All the best with the new beast and don’t mod it too hard. Merry Christmas
Very nice - have to watch some of your vids. I settled for the HEMI and 38s to preserve range so really curious how this beast will perform when doing daily tasks :) but it will certainly be an epic show vehicle
You guys do understand that the XR package is only cosmetic upgrades really. Tires are too small, rims too narrow to put proper tires on etc etc. it’s just a marketing thing from Jeep. It’s basically the mall crawler package lol.
You can do HEMI swap for 35K and keep everything else stock up to 37inch tires: would upgrade shafts if doing 38s and/or hard rock bouncing and full axles only if going 40s AND wheeling. If you just hang on pavement and Forest roads you can do your 40s with the stock axles and I cannot see how...
been wheeling with the HEMI and stock axles with RCVs and Yukons on 38s with no issues so far - 18 months in - point being axles not a priority can do a little later down the road
stance is perfect now. after some discussion we went ahead and did weld the cradle to the axle - now I cannot wait to get to some trails and test it all out. The on road manners are excellent with the new shocks and springs vs the mopar lift. Less body roll and diving and less bouncing of the...
