It was a long time ago when I bought mine and like 15 years since I used it. I was trying to figure out if Ramsey was still a player and if they still made good winches. I searched the forum here and found no reference to Ramsey so I had to ask for others feedback.
Actually, I have an old Ramsey worm drive winch on my semi-retired 1967 FJ45. I have had that thing on my LandCruiser for like 35 years of so and never had a problem with it. It's a beast! I wonder if this style would fit in the steel Rubicon bumper...
I have searched this forum and could only find one mention of Ramsey and no details about them.

That's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for - thanks!
It seems many people like the Apex winch, and the price is definitely attractive! I read where Harbor Freight offers a full replacement extended warranty super cheap too, that's nice also! I wonder if I could...
I am looking to get a winch for my Gladiator. I want a quality winch, but I'm not willing to dop $1,500 - $2,000 on a Warn ZEON. I have looked at all the ones guys mention here and I really don't like the looks of the Harbor Freight winch. I like the look of the SmittyBilt, but it seems...
