I’d gather most of that is going to be labor. Nothing crazy, but just doing control arms and track bar in my XJ took me about 3 combined afternoons. I’m also no expert, so why it took about 6 hours total.
Tin foil hat off for a second.. I’m not so much worried about the man spying on me but instead of added complexity.
For example, family friend owns a 2020 Honda with all the safety features, one day, all of the lights on the dash came on for them and it yells at you. The engine runs fine, trans...
I was honestly really happy with my JT, I just didn’t want to reengineer the cooling system and the heat from the engine bay made the cab suck on longer trips in the summer. Not much I would do differently, maybe not have wasted the money and time to add the insulation to the floor and the roof...
Jeez, I got nervous about mine before 36k (that and the it can't tow worth a damn on 37's thing when it's 110+ outside) and traded it in. I'm glad the power plant is doing wonders for a lot of you.
Shortly after trading in my JT I bought a beater XJ from a family member that needed a motor. I put one in, and I've dumped like 8k into it total. It probably worth $3000 running as it is. :CWL:
AI helped me find a lot of those vacuum leaks and mystery clips that just break on a 26 year old...
A few observations:
You bought a Gladiator Rubicon and then immediately started modifying it like you were trying to prove to strangers online that you actually wheel it.
Those photos have strong "I spent $15,000 making a $60,000 vehicle look like a government fleet truck" energy.
The wheels...
The Hualapai's right there have some good wheeling, route 7101 specifically if you have all day and a few buddies to go with is a great time. Does get sketchy in a few places due to steep drop off of cliffs.
I had a similar experience once on a hunt in the old XJ with the 4.0... we saw water, popped the hood, saw nothing weird, drove home 6 hours a few days later, parked it for a few weeks and before our next wheeling trip we realized there was 0 water in the radiator. It was a 4.0 so it didn't matter.
Most dealers are over charging and their technicians are overworked and many times under trained to do real diagnosis. The good techs open their own shops. Not to mention implications to the rest of your warranty if you openly admit to allowing a 3rd party shop open the diffs and replace gears.
That’s about right.. 9 quarts at $16 a quart + the expensive filter costs about $150 iirc even if you DIY. That’s what amsoil shows me for their kit at least.
Many of us live where there is a visual and OBDII sniffer test anually. Unfortunately that meant me and the truck I loved went our separate ways. I still see the guy that bought it driving around a few times a month and makes me do a double take.
You can’t with it deleted if your county requires it.
I loved my ecodiesel when I had it… but keep in mind the number of us that were disappointed when we modded it, enjoyed the torque but couldn’t tow with it for a lack of cooling capacity.
The wife and I are shopping for her and her business.
She needs a new vehicle. We have scoured the lots, I’ve tried to talk her into a Wrangler product for months. Solid axles, and everything else involved with the original Jeeps are awesome off-road, and is why I am trying to convince her to...
