Yeah, you should be fine. No lift on my '20 Sport (max tow), and I've been running rubicon takeoffs since I got the Gladiator. Even with a very heavy bumper and winch, no rubbing.
Granted, with the extra St. Bernard worth of weight on the front, it does have a bit of dip and would really look...
For those who haven't gotten ducks - I only give them to Jeeps that already have them. If I see a nice jeep driving down the road, I'll ask if they do the duck thing, and toss them one if they do. But in parking lots, it is limited to those Jeeps that already have one on display.
I'm trying...
I've told this story here before, but I'll share it again:
Living in Germany, and I had a JKU at the time. Went out for a drive through the Schwarzwald (Black Forrest) on drive topless day. Beautiful day out, and I was thoroughly enjoying the drive. Saw a euro-spec Wrangler driving towards...
Don’t care how cool the Jeep looks, but nobody can look good trying to climb into a vehicle 2’ too tall.
You could have John Wayne behind the wheel, Sinatra riding shotgun, with Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin in the back, and they’d still look like drunk giraffes on roller skates while trying to...
All stock suspension. Mostly just tire changes (33" duratracs on the JKU for the German winters, 255/80/r17 pizza cutters for the JK, and rubi take offs for the JT. The JK was definitely due to the wheelbase, but the JT just has a lot sloppier steering than either of my JKs.
I had a 6MT JK 2 door that was squirrelly as hades, but the steering was tight. Had. JKU before that while in Germany, and I got that one up over 100 MPH on the autobahn. My JT isn't nearly as squirrelly, but it does wander all over the road. It seems to be better since I got the steering box...
I had the same thing in my JK, but I don't have kids. With the doors and top off, my beard would blow up into my eyes. Kept them on my gear shift to keep the beard contained!
One of my coworkers has 5 daughters, and the oldest wanted a MT, 2 door JK as her first vehicle. I took him out and let him drive my Jeep (the exact one she wanted). After about 2 minutes driving that Jeep, he decided he couldn't afford what she would do to his insurance with that Jeep.
I...
Got my ducks today. Strawberry ducks as I live in the self proclaimed "Winter Strawberry Capital of the World." Now to do up some cards and start ducking Jeeps...
yeah, I really do. It’s taken its fair share of blood from me - mounting a winch is not a lot of fun on this one as it was obviously designed for small children with about 5 wrists in their arm to access the mount points. I’ve busted my knuckles more than my fair share of times.
One other bit...
Have that bumper on my Jeep. One recommendation I’ll give - chase the bolt threads On the outer side of the bumper. The inside posts are no problem, but I had a hell of a time getting the outer bolts in, and there is one bolt I never got to work. I got a cheap tap set from harbor freight. If I...
In certain situations I would agree that you shouldn’t go alone. Ocala definitely isn’t one of them.
Honestly, I’m most interested in having another set of eyes to find the trails and to nudge me back on the path when I start heading head long into the bombing range. My wife makes fun of me...
Yeah, I know that, and I’m sure that I’ll be perfectly fine on my own - never have done a self recovery, but I’ve pulled a fair number of cars and trucks out of ditches before, so I know how to do do that much.
But it would be nice to have some company! Only off-roading I’ve done was in...
So, after my above post, I spent an inordinate amount of time online looking at rubber ducks, pondering the question of which duck best suited my situation. I live in Florida, so beach themed ducks? Tampa has Gasparilla, so pirate ducks? I am an avid Tampa Bay Lightning fan, so hockey ducks...
