You'll be fine towing a boat in that range, but I wouldn't go much heavier than that.

This is not a common failure so I would chalk it up as a freak occurrence. If you want some added peace of mind, you can always send in used oil samples for analysis during the new motor break in period to get a heads up on any irregularities.

I just went through this exact scenario and chose to get 4 extra sensors from rockauto for the new wheels. Cost around $100 for 4 new tpms and now I have an extra set of wheels/tires with the proper sensors installed as spares. If you have a discount tire around, I would highly recommend them...

Changing the threshold is the same amount of work as disabling the tpms, so you might as well lower the setpoint and still have a functioning tpms system.
