100% with you. Bought one for my son, and enjoyed it so much I just found another for myself. And I would much rather continue using the JT as my daily.
Considering the fact that Jeep sells far, far more 4 door Wranglers than 2 door, I don't see this happening. They are building what sells. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my TJ, but as a daily driver I far prefer the JT.
No one who owns a Gladiator is poor. Not every owner is in a position to dump half the price of the vehicle into mods for the privilege of beating the hell out of their expensive toy on trails.
Fellow NYer here. The last time I had issues with DMV a call to my State Senators office did the trick. A staffer there got me set and the vehicle DMV had previously refused to register was done.
I run a sunrider and love it. That said, for that price I'd probably have the soft top. My JK came with both tops, and I always swapped them spring and fall here in NY.
As with most things, someone with more money than common sense will be along and pay it gladly. Not defending the practice, but if suckers will pay, the dealership should make money on them.
Certainly not ready for prime time for those of us that live in rural areas. Yes the technology is improving, but until the infrastructure is there, its a hard no for me.
