  1. In Praise of Gladiator Comfort

I too am happy w/ my Sport S comfort. I have seat covers and a dead pedal and find it more comfortable to drive long distance than my wifeā€˜s outback. My previous rig was a Ram crewcab
  2. Recommendation for Topper?

I went with RLD for my 21 Sport S. Similar to RSE and Alumicab. Been very happy with it. use mine to haul our kayaks and protect the dog when we go out bird hunting..
  3. 85 octane?

Recently moved to Idaho where they sell 85 octane fuel as ā€œregularā€. Iā€™ve been buying 87 which is mid grade here. Also saw in the manual Jeep states to use 87. ā€œThis engine is designed to meet all emissions regulations and provide excellent fuel economy and performance when using high-quality...
  4. What did you do WITH your Gladiator today?

I just came back from a house hunting trip in eastern ID from western Wa. I towed a small uhaul trailer there, came back w/o it. Very impressed with how it handled, MPG out was 15-17, whole trip was over 22 MPG. Drove ~65MPH out and 80-70 way back. Overall a ver posi experience
  5. Travel trailer recommendations

Sorry for the delay in responding, am in the process of moving, with all the headaches that entails. Good to hear about your scamp. When I was a lieutenant stationed at Fort Carson in the 80s I rented a Scamp and toured Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier Natā€™l Parks. Had a great time &...
  6. Picked this up and put an Alu-Cab contour canopy on it

I have a Sport S with max tow with a RLD canopy, EZ Rec rack on top & I average ~20-22 mpg. But Iā€™m not driving a lot of highway speeds

Thanks for your feedback, both in below & in answer to my carpet Q
  9. Travel trailer recommendations

Agree, not a fan of the wet bath concept. To be honest, with my previous rigs, I rarely used the onboard facilities- preferred to use the camp facilities, made clean up much easier.
  10. Travel trailer recommendations

Back in the mid 80s when I was first assigned to FT Carson Co, my wife & I rented a scamp from outdoor Rec and travelled to Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. Have fond memories of that trip in the scamp and am seriously considering one of these. How do you like the carpet...
  11. Travel trailer recommendations

@smlobx - valid recommendation, but tear drops arenā€™t in the equation- we may cook outdoors, but like the option of eating indoors, so a small dinette is required. From our experience in western Wa and my luck of always raining no matter where I go camping , itā€™s nice to have a indoor...
  12. Travel trailer recommendations

I might be looking at getting a small camper for the wife and I. We donā€™t anticipate anything over a week at a time, and normally will be at a campground with facilities- think national parks. ive been looking at A frames and smaller fiberglass trailers & am wondering what others here have and...
  13. What did you do TO your Gladiator today? [ADMIN WARNING: NO POLITICS]

  15. Idiot Gladiator Owner Road Rage Incident

Iā€™ve been many places in the world- europe, Thailand, Saudi Arabia to name a few. Biggest difference is how ethnically homogenous that society is- the more it is, the more their norms are adhered to. Also, our society values, promotes the individual vs others that promote conformity- another...
  16. Idiot Gladiator Owner Road Rage Incident

Before I retired, I saw this frequently on my 20+ mile commute to work. It has gotten worse, almost consistent with the growth in population IMO. While I agree with the comments of the increasing incivility to others ( regardless of location road, airlines, online, movie theaters, etc) I also...
  17. Dog setup…

I have my Brittany in a kennel in the bed of my Sport S. As I live in the PNW, I have a canopy- a RLD canopy with sliding windows on the side. It also comes with a top vent that supposedly provides overpressure to keep dust out of the enclosed bed- never tried it. As I have only 1 dog, my...
