IGLA has a four-button-press limit for the 'PIN code' if I'm not mistaken, and runs around USD $500. The Ghost II supports up to 20 button presses and runs around CAD $1800. Based on one video I've seen on the YouBoob, IGLA works with the Compustar Pro T13; not aware of Ghost II compatibility...
I think I've decided on the Compustar T13 system with alarm. Not clear on how much engine kill functionality it will have--the owner of the local certified installation place just told me the remote start doesn't play well with kill, but other online docs say it's a feature. Anyone here have...
Build Six begins!
Iām still waiting on the settlement from the insurance. Fingers crossed that my mods will be included! Had to get a new ride though, and JTRDs are hard to come by. This is a new 2022.
I have the new SUV Club, and I made room in my garage to park inside. It *just* fits. Re...
Community is *everything*. Weāre all in this together. I was buoyed when my neighbour, a native of China, told me my original FB post about my Jeep being stolen was shared by others in our community on Weibo! (Huge Chinese population in my āhood.). I was touched. The better we get to know our...
Loved this site. This is the importance of math, peeps! It helps you be a critical thinker. FWIW, I did find the claim of millions of installations and zero losses to be a bit dubious when I first went to the site (after the first recommendation much earlier in this thread). How would they...
And they claim 'hardened wiring' behind the dash portion of the plug, but the install location makes it vulnerable--and while that wouldn't necessarily mean it could be defeated easily, I am not keen on having it be so accessible. Ugh... goddamn thieves, giving me ulcers.
I actually already have one... but I had let the batteries die and hadn't recharged them since September! The detective said he'd seen a lot of Ring footage over the years and all they ever show are two guys with hoods and masks, vehicle lights coming on, and the vehicle driving away...
Thatās actually the current plan now. Waiting to hear from the dealer in St Catherineās on whether or not I need to head down there or if thereās someone closer to install.
On my recently-stolen 2022 JTRD, I'd had the Bank Derringer and PedalMonster along with the iDash 52 mm gauge. I had mounted it using their suction-cup mount up in the top-left corner of the windshield and ran the cable down behind the A-pillar. I'd like to see what others have done for their...
Hey Jeremy! I had your beautiful ARB dual compressor mount installed on my dearly departed. You can be sure I will be ordering another once I get the new JT. It is a thing of beauty.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and advice.
A note about AirTags--I'd thought of that a long time ago but Apple very wisely implemented a security feature shortly after they came out which negates some of that utility as a secret tracking device: if an AirTag that is not paired to your...
It is a never-ending arms race between security measures and cheap, easy technology to defeat those measures. The manufacturers can likely do more, but there's always that tradeoff between effective security and what the average or majority of users are willing to do--and in the business...
Good question. Probably not, now that I think about it. The key fob itself is emitting a signal every so often, or constantly (not sure which), and that's what the keyless entry/proximity sensor is 'listening' for. Disabling it likely doesn't tell the key fob to stop transmitting.
I had seen that on their site, but hadn't done the firmware update on my Tazer. The shitty thing is the thieves probably look for such things immediately. Pull it out and re-connect the plugs and they're off. Of course, it takes serious patience to get those plugs back in. I had the...
Geico isn't a think up here in the Great White North, and the last time I looked at them when I was living in the 'States (over the previous 20 years--up until last Feb), they were way more expensive than what I had been paying with State Farm. Gawd I miss State Farm, they were the *best*. I...
