So this is new. Not the typical wander, death wobble crap.
Recently (past 3 days) I’m getting a
“thunk” like sound while turning the steering wheel and at the same time the “feel” is like a dead spot. It’s momentary. And it varies in the position of the wheel. Not always in the same direction/location of wheel position.
It has had it steering box TSB already performed and has been perfect. (1 year ago).
So I’ll be making a call to my dealership to see what they diagnose. I already crawled under the front and inspected what i could. Torqued down a few Nuts and bolts that i found needing attention.
Nothing critical mind you.
Curious if anyone else experienced this and had it resolved.
Cheers.

Well, well, well… Jeep peeps at my dealership state I need another steering box. It’s leaking as well. Looks like my replacement snuck past QC.
Sting goes in next week. Fingers crossed this one will do it.
Cheers

Ok so we had the original aluminum steering box replaced with the TSB issue.
The replacement steel one was a major improvement ,at least to me. Then about a month ago I was getting a intermittent “thunk” sound. As well as when I think about it now, almost
Like a delay in steering input response.
Dealer had the Sting yesterday for service. The box was indeed leaking.
New one is in. Amazing what a proper steering system feels like. It’s like a brand new Jeep. It now tracks perfectly, no more constant corrections. Wheel returns to center after making a turn.
I no longer have to coax it back. Quiet as can be.
Right, that’s my experience.
Cheers
