I’m so annoyed that I just purchased the MX-4 with no knowledge of this debuting just weeks after. Is there any way to adapt the new rails to a new regular MX-4? Of so, will they be sold separately? Mine is literally brand new.

Those who have seen one in person: how's it seem as far as theft-prevention, compared to something like the Diamondback Switchback?

The redesign of the newest MX4 model makes it incompatible with previous generations of MX4 covers. Since these parts aren't going to work for the other MX4 covers, the rails are not for sale.

If you're looking for a rack that's compatible with the MX4 model that you already have, I can send you a recommendation. Feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected].

Thank you. I’m not currently in the market, but good to hear that some will work with it.

Interesting they decided to intentionally show it in the cold/winter. We love our X4s but it does not perform in the snow. Once temps drop, its impossible to roll open without potentially causing damage and the official word from BAK is "don't use it in freezing temps."

Curious if this model is more capable.

Hard folding tonneau covers tend to perform better in freezing conditions. The panels are much more robust, thus making it easier to open if there's a little ice in the channels.

Looking at the instructions, it appears the tonneau rails are supposed to be clamped on in front of the trail rails. My rails are not OEM, but I'm fairly certain they're the same external dimensions.

Is the BAK MX4 TS incompatible with trail rails on the Gladiator, or do I not understand how the clamps are installed?

Once you remove the front accessory rail from the bulkhead, you'll install a bracket at both bulkhead corners, and then reinstall the accessory rail. That bracket, along with the rear mounting brackets in the picture below, helps to support an adapter rail along the bed rail of the Gladiator. That adapter rail is where the tonneau cover rail is installed. It won't install directly to the Trail Rails.

The Mopar hard tonneau cover also shortens the bed slightly as the front 8" does not fold up - this one looks to have the same non-folding attachment point, the 3 folding sections effectively rest on that front section when folded. I remove the hard cover when i need the full bed space for hauling.

Based on this image on the site, It doesn't look like you lose anything close to 8" -- seems to be pretty much full access IMHO, @RealTruck ?

Correct, you still have full bed access. Here's another great example of it fully open on the Gladiator.
