Thinking on this and reading changed my plans. What I need is a small winch to pull cargo in, like a heavy tool on wheels, or a lawn aerator (HEAVY), and to be able to charge a mobility scooter. Both can run off DC.

So the wires on the aux kit look small, can you really run a 40 amp line off 2 of the aux buttons? 40 amp means 8 gauge or better yet 6 gauge. Also can I if needed change the circuit on the aux from 40 to 20 if I want to run a smaller run?

For this I would recommend a separate and over rated relay like 200A triggered by one of the dash aux buttons and use at least 6ga wire and preferably larger. I would place the relay near the battery with large circuit breaker (100A?) and run the wires straight down into the front to rear running frame member and pop out near the end of the bed and up to whatever type of interface you need. I would recommend Anderson Power Poles and at least the 75A version.

Thanks, was thinking that might be the way. Know of any panel sockets that can handle 100 or more amps? I would rather this not be a permanent install of the winch, but one I plug in when needed and store away when not. So I need a way/place to plug in.

Guess worst case I could get a hand crank setup and use that, I think 600lbs is the max I will need to pull into the bed up ramps.

Most larger Anderson Power Poles mount to a flat surface, just look at any electric fork lift, they have an Anderson screwed down somewhere for battery charging. Here is one example and it could be screwed under the bumper or maybe you could make a right angle bracket that fits behind the bed panel where the original 120VAC socket goes and just make a rectangular cutout for it to stick through a little.

This model is rated over 100A and crimps to 4ga wire. I have crimpers for that if you want to drive to So Cal :).

Thanks, I wanted to plug in the bed, but they have plug covers so a under the bed mount might work. Just need the JT now.
