I guess it is a ethics thing then. Most states and even Hawaii follow Uniform Commercial Code and have laws dealing with the concept of "implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing" in contracts and the vehicle warranty is a contract. Omission of facts is considered bad faith dealing. If the roles were reversed, one would be suing the dealership and/or Stellantis for such things.

If the truck goes in the shop and the mechanic opens the diff and realizes it's not factory anymore, the owner may be getting a bill for shop time up to that point, and a phone call with the a quote for installation of the parts that were ordered.

If I were the mechanic I'd be checking the gear ratio out of curiosity.
If the mechanic working on the truck is as curious as I am the cat will be out of the bag.

Checking the ratio of the gears that were removed may be common, to make sure the parts being installed match the parts being removed.
